Man, Oda's writing is absolute crap. There were so many ways to use Sanji's admirable traits to explore his insecurities or his excessive kindness, yet Oda is making that borderline transphobic gag the catalyst for Sanji to realize something about himself.
It’s ridiculous for both Zoro and Sanji. Do they really need to keep flashing back to the past every time they’re in danger? It’s a sure bet that the Zoro vs. Shiryu fight will involve another flashback, this time regarding his eye and Observation Haki. It’s just weak, repetitive writing.
