I think it'd be pretty amazing storytelling. The guy who was rejected and bullied for being weak and ineffectual falls under the wing of traditional manly man Zeff. He does what he can to be accepted and projects heterosexuality in the most ridiculous, obnoxious ways at every turn. Somehow he still gravitates to Bon and Iva

i find it funny that these people ignore gunko defeating jinbe easily despite jinbe having back up from like 3 or 4 mid tiers and killingham overpowering sanji just to spread an agenda

Tbh a big part of the problem is that Oda goes way over the top with making gag characters like Sommers look much weaker than they should be, just for the sake of some (not very funny) comedy. I mean how tf does Sommers go from casually blocking a KoH Dragon Damnation to getting casually treated like a training dummy by Zoro? Why does he no longer have the reaction speed to block and parry Zoro’s attacks? Was Zoro just randomly moving at only like 10% of his normal speed when he was using his strongest known attack, which costs a lot of Haki for him to use?

because oda doesn't know how to write fights anymore so he keeps flipping between zoro being on the defense and being on the offense
he's doing anything he can to make the fights seem interesting, he even wrote in a shitty flashback where ivankov tells sanji he needs conq haki for some reason
