Well fundamentally he didn't because he is aware that a sword would only mess with his gears since Luffy is known for being a brawler after all. So it makes no sense for him to pick up swords fundamentally. :)

I think this can apply if he is in base, but I think controlling G4 + sword would be an issue for him, unless he actually wants to become a swordsman.

In that case I believe that the G4 speed/strenght outputs + the lethality of a sword would be a devastating combo.

Well yeah I dont deny that. Oden is still in his head. But given the extreme Oden wank from Oda you gotta have a laugh when you think about it that a single no named club attack from Kaido was enough to finish Oden off.
