For now, but Oda is setting Kid up to be Luffy's rival. I'm sure he'll show some insane feats in this battle. Kid just needs more screen time.

If Kid was meant to be a true rival to Luffy he would have had a much more stronger crew.

Right now his portrayal is of being one of the strongest SNs but so are Law and Zoro who are Oda's favourites.
