That is where you are wrong imo, Oda has been milking Luffy to the max and his popularity has reached the plateau and it hasn't risen since Pre timeskip, only thing happened is people have just started to get annoyed with always focus on Luffy.
Though you could argue that Zoro still has more potentional for popularity as he hasn't been that active after time skip.

You see, Sanji fans are starting to accept Marco will fight King and Sanji will fight Queen, while Zoro is up there with the others... So that's a pretty huge gap, they would hope Zoro would at least fight King because that would be closer, at this point they are hoping for Zoro vs King instead of the old Zoro vs Kaido and Sanji vs King. They are okay with giving up King for Zoro instead of Sanji, as long as Zoro doesn't get to do some big shit against Kaido.
And the reduced to only cooking food for aftermath so others can rejuvenate.

See, the above statement is a fact, but i guarantee a bunch of Zoro fans reading it will take issue with someone writting that fact about Zoro.
I did hype him up for being chosen by Oda to support Luffy up there, highlighting him once again as his First Mate for the 1000 OP chapter. I talked about that in the chapter 1000 spoiler thread, but that's a reasonable way to look at things and be happy for Zoro, so for part of Zoro's fanbase that's the equivalent of being salty or trashtalking him.
It's kind of stupid to have countless of threads in that vein pop up and the hype be overblown to that extent. It's not nearly as stupid though than it is to build this narrative where people are salty if they don't jump on board with the craziest thing some Zoro fans can come up.
Like a very moderate stance on those issues will be treated as if those supporting such a stance are Zoro haters. You'll get a person writting their mind in a concise post, and ten idiots who can't put together a setence quoting him with random memes.
