Agreed, that does seem like an issue. But as I said, I do believe the series suffers from being too long for something relatively so formulaic.

Not really. At this point, I am only really excited about D.Gray Man, though World Trigger and Akagami no Shirayukihime also get me reasonably interested when a new chapter drops. One Piece... I don't dislike it per se, and there are interesting things, but it is honestly feeling kinda sloggish...

To be fair, it was IIRC Luffy himself who said that G5 is his peak. But yes, it makes absolutely ZERO sense, logically or thematically, for Luffy to get another gear. What he will get are new Haki powers and further refinements to G5.
