He already was saved against both Akainu and Mihawk. Ace got sacrificed for that very reason. Oda can do whatever bullshit to make Luffy survive. He's done it many times, and for most of the times no SH was involved or helped him

No that's ur headcanon. Why would king shift to a less durable mode if he was scared? Only reason king backed off was because he thought he would have an advantage in the air.
