Depends on what Imu wants. If he’s after Nika and Nidhogg, he could just teleport to them. If he’s trying to gather his holy knights, he’d also have to deal with Sanji. If he wants both, expect him to face Zoro, Sanji, Luffy, and Loki.
I like the idea of Blackbeard teaming up against Imu, that fits his opportunist vibe. I’m not against him being endgame, but if he replaces Imu, you still have to explain who supports him and how he keeps that kind of control long-term. And with the final saga already underway, I’m not sure...
I think those are useful hooks, but they only work if Oda actually shows how that turns into real power, otherwise the same question remains: who actually runs the World Government after Imu? It’s possible Oda will have the WG collapse entirely after Imu, but that still needs on‑page justification
IHMO, BBP vs SHP makes the most sense as a mid‑to‑late game conflict that happens before the final Imu/WG resolution. That lets Blackbeard become a credible rival through chaos, recruitment, territory grabs, and resource gains without needing to instantly seize control of the World Government...
I get the race for OP angle, but that still doesn’t address legitimacy. Even if OP decides who becomes king, someone grabbing it doesn’t automatically buy Gorosei/Marine loyalty or global compliance... those institutions won’t just hand over power. Roger being early explains timing, not why...
Both scenarios are weak because they depend on the One Piece being the decisive tool to overthrow Imu/WG, but canon shows Roger found Laugh Tale and didn’t use it to overthrow the world order, and Whitebeard never chased it.
One Piece as a ticket to king of the world needs a lot of setup from...
No surprise. It's known Oda doesn’t like Zoro surpassing Luffy in polls, so he’ll likely downplay him even more. Also all related to him like Mihawk, black blades, Ryuma, etc.
