he was too op or going to become too op for the verse overall and had to get the axe for lukuna to shine. It was a shame how he went out though.

Just recently caught up to that and I stopped around where Yuki showed up. It was a bit weird, Yuji didn’t even get the final blow but the anime had him dramatically cowering in fear at the end which was a solid substitute. But he was around for like a while and had to go any way.
