Shanks have the sword Griffin and griffins are the gatekeepers of treasures where Cereberus is the gatekeeper of hell. As twins it makes sense that their respective thematic animal are opposed but similar at the same time.
Oda add a second thematic element by having Shamrock a Celestial Dragon protector of the self-proclaimed celestial gods to have the gatekeeper of hell. The fruit revealing the true nature of Marie Geoise.


Now I wonder if the Gatekeeper of Hell and the King of Hell will clash. Will Zoro tamed a dog after he tamed a cat?
