So "Luffy's Whitebeard" will ally with Luffy's "Rocks", who is Blackbeard. Luffy's major rival besides Blackbeard himself is Kid.
Kid is named after real life pirate William Kidd, who was held in the Newgate Prison, when awaiting execution
Edward Newgate and Eustass Kid also have very similar backstories. Both grew up on islands not under the protection of the World Government, full of violence.
