I think it's kind of ironic that Martin famously criticized what he saw as Lotr having a non conclusive ending, where we just assume Aragorn ruled properly, but we don't know what that means and how he dealt with remaining orcs. and then he just never finished his own books lol.....

I think the show did its job for the most part
Jon Snow should've killed the night king, other than that its whatever
Nothing like the butchery of the rings of power, completely destroyed everything Tolkien stood for with his novels

I’ll have to disagree, the show diverged so far from the books in both character quality and the quality of writing, it’s hard to compare them.

By the end of season 4, the show had cracks in it that were becoming apparent.

Martin, get a grip.

While I agree, It's true that RoP is way worse. Or at least: Rings of Power Is Got, but without the first four seasons.

Rings of power didn't start good so nobody invested any time or emotion into it but GOT had us hooked for years only to shit in our mouth at the end.

I generally give RoP more credit for at least taking inspiration from Tolkiens older writings that didn’t make it into his canon and keeping his messages there. No other adaption of Tolkiens work touches on the religious angles of his writing like RoP.

GoT pissed me off because their changes were nonsensically bad—removing “where do whores go”—to an absolute abortion of plot lines like the Dornish plot or Stannis being killed off to push Dany or what they did to Barry despite the actor fighting for his job

GoT’s changes were lessening the story, RoP needed changes to make the story work.

Tbf, RoP has his fair share of atrocious plotlines.

They don't have the rights to adapt the Silmarillion, ok, but then don't try to.

I think if they got competent directors, RoP would be a solid 20% better. The plotlines are mostly alright with me, none that I hate.

I think most of the Silmarillion stuff is the material the Tolkien Estate allowed them to use—they should have more available for Season 3.

Though I've always been on the side that, if they're doing a story that might jump centuries, they should be pursuing the Fall of Arnor that only takes roughly 800 years and has more freedom with the cast.

Conqueror of the Stars
Daemon the Shanks of Asoiaf
Jaime literally lost his left hand just like Saint Shanks

Jaime is far more of a Saint Shanks than Daemon. Prodigy of the greatest knight in the main series, twin born child of most powerful man in Westeros, Mr. perfect with zero flaws

Jaime pre-character development is literally Saint Shanks. Lol
