Barto had the misfortune of running into Shamrock's trashy and cruel brother, whose goon sank the ship of the Barto Club. What will follow from that? Atleast one member of the crew should be able to swim. On the other hand, the explosion could have knocked everyone out. They could get fished out by outsiders. For what purpose though? Barto is not good at making friends and has a bad reputation and a bounty. My own view is that somehow he will get in the hands of the navy, either a marine will pull him out of the water or a a civilian who will hand him over to the navy.

He'll live, just like Law and Kid will. Pretty sure all 3 of these incidents were just done to establish a show of power for the remaining Emperors. Barto's already in the Grand Fleet but Law and Kid are going to have to solidify their allegiances somewhere if they're progressing into the last stretch of the story.
