It wasn’t, they weren’t mentioned at all until recently as far as I know. But it seems odd that Brook would be the only one who knows who they are if they weren’t a secret.

The HK are not a secret military. They actively went out to handle uprisings in WG nations. It’s likely Brook was a Commander in a WG nation’s military. As such he may have fought alongside them or at least know of them.

It could be the reason why Gunko is aware of Soul King’s music. Maybe Brook once played music for an audience of HKs or some shit
