Chapter Discussion The regen comes from the mark and the abyss?

#1
So far, everyone who displayed regen came out of the demon circle. We saw that with strong enough haki(joy boy), you can send them back and they instant appear where they were before going through the portal.

My guess is when they go through the portal, they are not sending their actual bodies, but a projection or something. That's why they can regen from all sorts of injuries like blow up head. And also maybe why they are so frail.

Gaban just happened to chop his arm, where the mark would be. So is the weakness of the abyss destroying the physical mark or just strong enough haki like joyboy to completely nullify it and take them out of the abyss.

Gaban cut Sommers’ right hand.
Sommers’ mark is on his left bicep

I guess this would explain mars not coming back, he was to far from the circle

That seems to be the case

Marking people is likely Imu's devil fruit power and maybe when you have Imu's mark he can kill you anytime anywhere which is how He was able to kill Saturn from across the globe

I think they can also communicate via the abyss marks

The idea that Imu marked Joyboy and then killed him is coming to mind

Either this or those regen could only be obtained by those who were summoned via 'Abyss' (or can only be assigned temporarily for those who are in certain mission).

If someone is powerful enough (or has enough haki) to beat those who were summoned, those who were summoned will disappear and come back to the original place where they were before.
Those who has mark assigned on them can travel through abyss and become "immortal".

Interesting take but probably not.

Saturn has his real body but he himself can regen.
Saturn's real body could be in the ship outside of Elbaph, same as others Gorosei's real body was in the Mary Geoise.
Remember, all gorosei appear at Egghead through Abyss.

When the 4 gorosei was transported back to Mary Geoise after the fight, Saturn was still at Egghead, indicating that his 'real' body is indeed around there. That's why he came back to the place before he's using Abyss (in the ship).

That's also explain why he need to check for poison since it was his real body that (in my opinion) while immortal/couldn't be killed by natural causes, still could experience death via certain means.

Why does Saturn want his food and tea checked for poison prior to being summoned by the Abyss?

That was Kizaru asking if the servers tested for poison. It's probably a "Royal figure poison tester troupe".

Sommers was talking thru a den-den mushi when he was summoned. He was weirded that the signal wasn't working anymore. If he was a projection, the signal should still work because that means the real body and den-den mushi wasn't transported.

But why was it even a protocol? Why would they care if Saturn's food is poisoned or not? Being a trope doesn't erase the implications. It just reinforces it.
Because not all Celestial Dragons are Immortals.
As far as we've been shown, only Imu, Gorosei, and the Holy Frauds have that ability.
Marines serve normal Celestial Dragons too.
It's just a standard protocol.

How do we explain the den-den mushi not working the instant Sommers was teleported if it was just a projection?
Maybe the signal got cutoff because of the weird energy from the Abyss around the user that's been projected.
We'll see.
One thing for sure though, AdvCoC can counter their ability.

If the Five Elders are immortal, then checking for poison wouldn't be necessary. It's not just a random higher-up Marine wanting assurance there's no poison, it's an Admiral.

My argument about their regeneration being tied to being summoned though. Projection is another thing entirely and would apply to other users who speculate such on this thread.

Yep, unless it's a standard protocol for all the Celestial Dragons.
What I'm suggesting is those panels were meant for nothing but to only set the tone for who's about to appear.
It’s not about Saturn actually being at risk; it’s about showing how untouchable and exalted his status is.
It was the first time a Gorosei have joined a raid on panel, after all.

But yeah, maybe it was foreshadowing. We'll see.

This would mean there was a summoner not named Gunko or the real Gunko is hiding around somewhere. We'll see.
