General & Others Do you want an MHA sequel manga?

#1
Personally, I really do

This is a superhero story, and I’d love to see these characters tackle similar threats to marvel and DC heroes.

I’m sure horikoshi is tired and needs a break. But I’d definitely be down to see some other mangaka produce a sequel.

Now that One for All is gone, and Deku is far from the #1 hero, it would be great to see Deku resume his journey as a hero with his super suit.

Some ideas of things a sequel could tackle:
  • USA
  • Deku’s father
  • Evil/corrupt heroes
  • Extraterrestrial threats
  • Multiverse
I get that the last three are especially cliche. But within the superhero genre, these are basically classic tropes.

Personally I still enjoy marvel/dc content and would be down to see MHA’s take on some of those tropes.

In my head canon the villains won and a sequel manga will be villains take over and heroes are forced under ground and then raise up to lead a resistance

Thats exactly what we should have gotten in the story and what I was expecting after not 1 but 2 wars from Shigaraki and all the villains united.

Fuck man, I used to want a sequel manga to MHA so bad but after that ABYSMAL ending, the stupid 8 year timeskip, how much Hori ruined Deku and Ochako, the disgusting, cruel offscreen killings of Midnight and Majestic and the absolutely pathetic death of AFO and how much his character overstayed his welcome and how underwhelming Deku vs Shiggy and so on was, I really couldn't care less about MHA anymore.

I think in the end, the only things I did like were the Toga and Ochako resolution but only somewhat and All Might not actually dying a gruesome death, but RIP Sir Nighteye still I guess.

There was so much wrong with MHA by the end its just baffling and exhausting to even think about.

Maybe I didn't "understand" or "enjoy" the series enough but I'm extremely disappointed how it ended.

But given how immensely popular MHA was, like a sort of Naruto successor somewhat, I'd be surprised if it doesn't get a sequel too. When it peaked, it really peaked, even if it just flatlined towards the end ultimately and never regained its peaks.

For whats it worth, this moment was fucking amazing and this edit of it in the anime made it even immensely better, the series does have some great characters and fantastic moments regardless:

Nah, it's fine as it is. Horikoshi's back can't handle another manga.
But this as well^. Hori damn near killed himself doing the manga, he had such SEVERE health issues multiple times that he should have ended the manga sooner or gone on a very long hiatus and gotten a reduced workload like Oda has, although I think he was getting a lot of breaks towards the end of MHA actually right? I remember getting a chapter every 2 weeks or so? 2 per month?

At least Vigilantes got an anime though, that's great for him genuinely, I might check it out even though I really lost interest in Vigilantes multiple times and didn't finish it either, but he wasn't actually writing and drawing Vigilantes either ofc. He might not still be with us if he was, so thankfully he wasn't.

I can't believe I actually expected to learn what happened to Red Riot too, SMH. Or that one Joker looking thief guy that Toga knew of would be relevant or that Stain would have a bigger role or that we'd get a better, longer fight between AM and AFO where AM does die or and Endeavour might die to Dabi in a literal blaze of glory but also self sacrifice/redemption/atonement for his sins etc.

Ironically I say I could care less but here I am ranting about MHA anyway lmao.

In all seriousness, I like your ideas and I would love to see them happen.

I expected some of these ideas for a sequel series at least, 100% guaranteed, there's multiple series worth of potential with alien and multiverse stuff even. But USA alone could carry another entire series potentially, even if its Vigilantes-sized at worst.

I would have loved to see other countries and heroes from there and thus villains too. The heroes from other countries not gettting involved in the final war and also the absolute butchering of the AMAZING Star and Stripe by Hori are some of the most unforgivable moments of the series, but there are plenty of those too, sigh.

I still can't believe we never saw Deku's father in the end like WTF. May as well just make him be Endeavour/AFO/All Might or whoever /s. All Might was his hononary father ofc but you could maybe stretch to Aizawa and Nighteye being father figures too.

The fact we'll never see the UA students do their 2nd and 3rd years, that it was all offscreened for the 8 year timeskip and everything Hori did, makes my skin crawl and makes me feel sick, ergh.

At this point, I have PTSD of long running manga series having absolutely awful endings now /s.

Thats fair lol, his character did start to feel like Hori didn't know what to do with him too.

I am really surprised he didn't kill him off especially with all those years of build up of Nighteye prophesing he will die a gruesome death and also just typical heroic mentor will die clichés and such. Even more especially how much Horikoshi absolutely adores and thus worships Star Wars too lmao.

That panel of AFO carrying him by the leg made it seemed like he was dead and also when AFO crusshed him brutally where he had wounded him before looked like it should have killed him then there too. But I always expected he was gonna get dusted by Shiggy at some point and Deku and Bakugo would both find out by seeing his vestige appear, well Bakugo might see more of an actual ghost of him in front of him or something like in JJBA style I guess. Bakugo was meant to get OFA temporarily transferred to him canonically though, before Hori scrapped it and used it for the 2nd or 3rd movie or w/e.
