I think Akainu has something against the D clan.

He fixates on Ace and Luffy who are both Ds and both Conquerors. There's another part where he calls their blood "cursed".

My personal theory is that Akainu, Dragon and Kizaru were a trio as Marines, but Dragon found out something about the WG that caused him to bolt, and the Goro's manipulated Akainu and Kizaru into thinking that D clanners are evil or something.

There's the possibility of Kizaru being part of the betrayal as opposed to a victim of it, based on Kunie Tanaka's role in Battles without Honour.

Problem is this theory has holes like Saul and Garp being Ds who worked for the WG, so I'll not swear by it completely.

Maybe, but it seems to be more of a "sins of the father" thing

When it was said that Weevil had the strength of young Whitebeard, how strong was WB then?
"We do not know" is the only valid answer. Nor do you know if that statement is even correct.

"He had the strength of young Shanks". How strong is that, huh?
Except Weevil is compared to a young Whitebeard for his strength! It is used to hype him, that is why the Marines hired him. And young Whitebeard isn't even known to have any losses or been close to losing like Roger. No one in the manga has ever compared Ace to Roger for strength. What happened here is obvious, Weevil is strong enough that the WG had to drop it's sins of the father policy

young Whitebeard for his strength!
Physical strength? Haki? Both? How strong was that version of WB?
You do not know.
Of course it was used to hype up Weevil. It was also deliberatly inconclusive.
All you really got to scale Weevil by are his known feats of beating some low tier WB goons of unknown strength or his ability to gain warlord status. So hes probably somewhere between Moriah to Mihawk...

That version of Whitebeard was strong enough to be portrayed as Rocks D Xebec's right hand man, you know... one of the most important pirates in the manga who the celestial dragons fear more then any other character?

Anyway, Weevil is portrayal wise, is at least relative to Mihawk. Both are warlords without any crews, traveling freely in the grandline, doing whatever they want. With Weevil hunting WBP and Mihawk hunting Marines. Mihawk doesn't want to fight Blackbeard, and Weevil does, but again we can use that as a character/motivation difference
