Future Events Will Smoker appear again, and if so, when?

I guess I'm going with 20-ish chapters?
I do think Smoker's definitely showing back up again. There's no way he's never going to appear again. It's only a matter of when.
I think he COULD show up, if Oda shows us different scenes from around the world while the Strawhat's learn Scoppers Anti-Regneration trick. But, that's not guaranteed. There's a good chance we don't see him again until after Elbaph is over. Oda COULD avoid showing us anything going on in the outside world, and reveal something big happened while the Strawhats were on Elbaph. And then we get a few flashbacks via the Strawhats reading newspapers or something, as they catch up to what they missed. Oda does like his surprise reveals.
But, we probably will find out what's in Smoker's mystery cube sooner or later. I'm guessing sooner since it's kind of a odd thing to be mysterious about. It was pretty easy to miss. And the Marines will probably be called in to help deal with the Revolutionaries sooner or later. So, 20-ish chapters feels about right. It's hard to say with Oda, though. We could get a peek at the outside world next chapter, for all we know. Oda likes to switch things up, sometimes.
As for what's in Smoker's mystery cube...I'm actually going to go with...Arlong. I think that box could actually be a prison cube. We haven't seen Arlong since WAY back in Arlong Park. And he's been imprisoned by the Marines this entire time. Oda's given cameos to almost EVERY major villain in One Piece history, but not Arlong for some reason, one of the most famous villains. So, I think Oda's saving him for some other purpose. I think Arlong could have some sort of role in the Final Saga.
Given Vegapunk's reveal about the world flooding, I think Smoker's taking measures to have a "agent" go down into the ocean to scope things out for him. I think this is going to end up being a "Suicide Squad"-type prison-work-release program thing. Where Smoker offers to reduce Arlong's sentence if he helps out in verifying Vegapunk's claims or helping to do something under the ocean that only a Fishman could do. Maybe exploring some ruin under the ocean that Smoker learned about from Vegapunk's notes on Punk Hazard? I'm probably wrong, but I think it's at least a interesting idea.
Plus, opportunities abound for "Smoked Fish" jokes.
