Yoho

Ruthlessness is Mercy upon yourself
Honey, tell the truth, no, but the red scabbards are soloing the whole of Elbaf, holy shit, what a trashy country these giants are.

I never knew why people bought into the propaganda the giants where some all powerful group they just have fodder or a higher tier because of their massive size

Big mom as a child nearly squad wiped them

Every instance of them in current story time line shows them getting absolutely embarrassed

It took the whole country working together just to subdue Loki and if Shanks didn't step in they probably wouldn't have even done that

And now they're passing out from conquerors or getting possessed

This giant propaganda needs to stop they are bums always have been always will be

It really shouldn't take a genius to realize that after Shanks stole a highly valuable fruit, NONE of his crewmates were seen using powers that even resemble what the fruit can do, yet this random kid pulls up out of no where beating the shit out of pirates that increase in popularity, territory and strength, even once beating up skilled government assassins, with the powers of the exact fruit that Shanks stole as well as HIS STRAW HAT that SHANKS EVEN SAYS IS HIS IN FRONT OF THE ENTIRE NAVY AT MARINEFORD.

One of my favorite panels in the manga, Kaido reminds me a lot of that speech Doflamingo made in Marineford, how some children never knew/know peace and others never knew/know war. This is why I think people misunderstand his backstory, it was fairly short but it gave us all we needed to know about him. His life was war and pain from the start, he didn't even have any real family, friends or lovers. That's why he's so obsessed with strength to the point where he abandons and abuses his own daughter to try and toughen her up.
It doesn't at all excuse what he does or justify it, but it does explain it.
This is also why Kaido's one of my favorites characters (or at least favorite villains) from OP. He obviously had some flaws, and some things could have been explored more (like why he wanted to kill himself so badly), but for what he was he was very enjoyable and fun. Had a fair bit of nuance too. You don't get that too often with OP villains nowadays, for example people like Saturn were just comically evil and racist for the sake of being comically evil and racist. I don't mind villains that are just evil without any real reasons or influences, but, we kind of already had that with Doflamingo, Lucci and Enel and that's where that trope peaked for me.
