Bit revisionist to say it never disappeared when there was not a single M3 scene of note between the end of FI and fighting the cat in Elbaf. We’re talking ten years where I can’t recall the trio having any scenes together. There’s Luffy/Zoro, Zoro/Sanji, Luffy/Sanji, but no Luffy/Zoro/Sanji ones.

There’s literally more Luffy/Zoro/Law and Luffy/Sanji/Jinbei moments in that time.

To look at it from a non M3 perspective, if Oda reverses course and starts treating Usopp well again, it doesn’t erase the currently ever-extending gap between Dressrosa and the current day where he has been treated as an afterthought. You can’t then post panels from Dressrosa, panels from Elbaf and say “see, cool Usopp never went anywhere” while ignoring the multiple year gap between the two where he very much did vanish.

The monster trio very much exists though Zoro and Sanji’s relationship as Luffy’s wings and unofficial right and left hand men

They don’t need to be fighting directly side by side to make it obvious that it’s still a thing. Especially when the last time they were all together basically pre onigashima was dressrosa
Usopp has been in the story the whole time besides wci. He was never at any point portrayed as a top 3 strawhat when it comes to strength so the comparison doesn’t really make sense

True. Still not an extreme diff by definition. If he has to use his best move/abilities but is ultimately barely hurt himself then it's a mid diff. High diff at most, but, that depends on how the fight went down

I mean do you think base franky can match sasaki and win a fight? Lets say sasaki had some gas left in tank at the end once franky gets out of his robot? I don't think so. Franky would have lost in that scenario for me. He needed general franky to keep up with sasaki.

Why is Franky and Cracker being protected by their respective ride armor treated as an anti-feat for their opponent?

Sanji and Jinbe have been painted as a duo all the way back in FMI even before Jinbe officially joined

They teamed up to fight wadatsumi

The 2 worked side by side to help Luffy get to the rooftop of onigashima

They were paired up during the start of egghead and while not directly working together they helped Zoro end his fight with Lucci. Also not as important but they’re matching lol

Sanji has a rivalry with Jinbe but unlike the one with Zoro it’s significantly more one sided

Most of the emperor crews have a similar power structure not just the beast pirates. Them having a name for the trio isn’t the important part

Oda simply loves to troll Sanji and as such is wittily utilizing Jinbe to do so as Jinbe was more renowned than Sanji at the time of speaking. It’s a temporary gag that is unlikely to continue going forward imo. Moreover, by Oda’s making Sanji is usually not as conspicuous as Luffy or Zoro for instance and is usually utilized as hidden powerful combatant hence why Absalom for instance initially thought he was just a mere subordinate and got run over as a result. This conspicuousness is a running gag that Oda’s played with since pre-ts, so Oda trolling Sanji with this is not new.

if this gag continues for the next few arcs then you will have a point.

Moreover a lot of the group combat scenes you’re posting is not exclusive to just Jinbe. Sanji also fights alongside Franky quite a bit.

All of that said right now they do have a dynamic but I think it’s something born out of circumstance rather than anything else. Jinbe is unlikely to continue to be more renowned than Sanji so this gag’s lifespan is a short one.


With regards to your comment on most yonko crews having this dynamic you are simply conveniently maneuvering my question to avoid the argument.

There is no evidence that Jinbe addition has forced the SHs into a Captain/Trio dynamic, it is simply your perception and not fact. Even the existing dynamics in the crew have titles of sorts, (I.e. the Monster Trio, the Weak Trio, the Adult Trio, the wings of the Pirate King’) if such a dynamic existed Oda would’ve already created one.

Imagine thinking that the so called 3rd in Luffy’s trio is pit against a bloody Tobi Roppo in a monumental war that made Luffy a Yonko when the other two are pit against calamities 💀
