Loki's destiny is clearly to rule Elbaph, to clear his name and become the rightful king. He won't join.
Besides, the crew already seems like a sausage fest. It has to be a woman.

Sanjino L chapter
Zoroach illiteracy at work. The real L is your entire existence on this earth.

Loki is the Momo of the arc, he'll end up as the rightful king and will guide Elbaf in the final war, or BB kills him for his fruit lol
Hajrudin is getting a lot of focus. he probably ends up as the King ruling over Elbaf while Loki leaves to directly help Luffy in the final war (either as a key ally like Law or as a SH).

Absolutely not. Hajrudin showed kingly traits - and even perhaps latent CoC - on one panel.

Loki can join or become Kyros/Pell of Elbaf. Mightiest warrior. He is in no shape or form a king, nor does he seem to want it.

Poor Sanji... But that confirms that he will awaken it in this arc... Hopefully, the rest of the crew will awaken their CoA and CoO in this arc as well... What will happen to Jinbe I wonder...

Now I am convinced that it would be the East Blue recruits (2 strongest and 2 weakest recruits) who will have CoC before EoS aside from potential CoC user recruits...

Usopp definitely has one... But I'm still puzzled as to how and why Nami has it...

hey guys guess what

i didnt read the chapter yet

should be ripley after divorcing gaban for sanji

I think the problem is most people checked out on narratively, like even people that make effort post like @grey matter who i always not agree with say they didnt read chapter in months/weeks
Its always the same people discussing the chapter anything beside the agenda shit too so yeah
@kekaro
Replying here since spoilers section got locked.
I think it will increasingly be seen as a consensus opinion going forward.

Oda really dropped the ball hard with how he executed the final section of the Wano arc. Egghead had potential for Oda to make up, but what ended up happening was the final antagonists getting massively dehyped, and the predictable giga plot armour of the SHs ensuring zero relevant casualities.

I mentally checked out of the broader narrative by the end of Egghead.

For years, I had been a big pusher of gorosei. Always had them as top tiers, back when a lot of the readers though they were figureheads and weak.
I actually liked the contrast gorosei had with the standard CD, who were spoiled scumbags, while they had a nuanced, wise king type energy back in the days. Even during their intro in Ohara, while stern, they also had a more diplomatic side. They even tried to give an out for the researchers, and preferred evacuating the civilians.
They were repeatedly shown preferring stability and minimizing casualties. Even when Imu asked them to test mother flame on Lulucia, they would've rather used it on sea, and expressed concern towards civilian casualties, before being bullied into submission by Imu.

Oda had written Gorosei with more nuance than fodder CDs, as he usually do for many of his villains (Arlong, Doflamingo, Kaido, Moria). While they are to be seen as bad guys, there is more to them than meets the eyes.
I had initially speculated Gorosei to be 5 amongst the OG 20 kings.

But in Egghead, Oda threw it all out of the window. Made them straight up behave similar to trash like Charlos. Had Saturn kill marines and even some vice admirals. Made them effectively slaves of Imu, who are the source of their immortality.

And their feats really do suck too. The intro was fire, with massive conqueror's haki showcase from Saturn, "eye diff" of Sanji and Franky. Same with other Gorosei, big hype intros with haki. But later they just became regen merchants. Yes, part of it is the trope of "I can heal". But Oda just made them completely incompetent without accomplishing anything.
What did Saturn even do??? He was the arc's punching bag. FFS, dude was getting his arms chopped off by Brook!! And then, without a chance to redeem, got killed by Imu....
The other Gorosei didn't look good either, though they did have some shine. Classic case of just offense and regen basically, with zero defence (except Mars he was all defence and no offense lol).

All culminating with Imu himself getting dehyped!!
Dude was shivering at Joyboy's haki......... and then threw a temper tantrum and killed Saturn. WTF
I just hope this was a classic case of PTSD, similar to Kaido with Oden (it's likely the case). But even then, it was not time to dehype Imu at all, first hype this dude to the moon and show him as a monster before going into all of these (like prior saga bosses) ??

***********

In one piece, for each sage, half the hype/energy is from the overwhelming power and presence of the antagonists. Crocodile and Mr1, Enel (GOATed) in Skypiea, Lucci and CP9, Doflamingo, BM and Katakuri, Kaido.

Kaido is the worst amongst these antagonists.
But if we were to erase the finale of Wano, and see how Oda built up this dude. It was insane. He had THE BEST buildup in one piece ever, the entire post TS was buildup towards Kaido. From the rumours as a Yonko, buildup as the strongest, to his intro falling down from the sky and owning Kid's group, to then blitz one shotting post WCI Luffy after all the "5th emperor" gassing.
Absolutely unreal buildup.

Contrast that with Gorosei and Imu, Blackbeard and his goons.

I've already mentioned about Gorosei. But Blackbeard and his goons are even worse.
They too were characters I looked forward to eagerly before Egghead.
Just for Blackbeard to mid-high diff Law inspite of DF advantage (while Shanks one shotted his peer Kid), Shiryuu made look like a jobber by old Garp, and the other BBPs not even treated as an afterthought before getting shit on (except Augur, dude was great)

**********

All that being said, I haven't been this interested in the narrative for years!

The Shanks lore drop this chapter was amazing.
I hope we get some great backstory and narratives (not gonna hold my breath with current Oda tho).
Unfortunate that the discussions are all about conqueror's haki, which admittedly is a very poor and controversial decision from Oda IMO.

It really does seem that Shanks legit returned to becoming a celestial dragon once he grew up, pretty much fully confirmed.
What do you all think made Shanks quit and return to the surface/seas?

After the Gorosei's pathetic performance and dehype, I think I've read maybe 2 chapters till now.
Otherwise, I just read spoilers, or at times even skipped those.

The reveals and lore drops this chapter is so good that I might start reading again.
I'll wait for the next chapter also to drop, to see if it's going to be worth all the effort before I binge lol.

This chapter doesn't leave Zoro in a very good light. Of course he's strong, but I never thought he had such a low battle IQ to not know he was using Haki
To be fair, it's Odas fault for not separating CoA and CoC more distinctly. It should have been simple

CoO - observation, sight, senses. DETECTION
CoA - Body, objects, steel like. EXTERNAL
CoC - Will, mental strength, soul. INTERNAL

On the cover page, Yamato gives Kawamatsu a hat! Riveting! How could this cover story POSSIBLY get more exciting, I ask you?!

I do like how they just casually call Loki a "sack of filth" and Gerd's perfectly fine with it.

Scopper DOES make it sound like the key to getting around the regeneration is some type of Conqueror's Haki. "Be mindful" is interesting phrasing. Especially because I feel like the God's Knights are themed around psychics and ESPers.

And Loki's power is somehow related to what Scopper just said. And it sounds like Loki's faced the God's Knights before, even before they tried to recruit him. Interesting.

Zoro is confirmed to have Conqueror's. And he had no idea. Heh. Sanji's so upset. Upset enough to unlock it himself by the end of this arc? I wouldn't be surprised if his rivalry is enough to make him grow exponentially stronger. Or maybe Scopper told Sanji a secret while Hajruden was yelling at Loki? Time will tell.

Luffy asks Loki to join his crew. Okay. Big moment. I doubt he ever will, even by the end of the arc. But, I think this should confirm once and for all that Loki is indeed a okay guy. Personally, I think Loki's going to have to stay on Elbaph in order to burn down the World Tree at the proper time, like how Fishman Island will need to be destroyed and Wano's walls need to fall. But, we'll see.

"Swear on our Gods". This is kind of interesting. Especially since the animals around Elbaph are being called "gods", too. Like the Ear God. It's not JUST Nika. Do they all worship the animals, too, or do the animals represent something for the Giants? Could this have something to do with Road's elk-skull-helmet? I do hope we get into this a bit.

And we're FINALLY getting some backstory! 14 years ago, Loki supposedly killed 113 guards. Interestingly specific number. I feel like that's a reference to something. I tried plugging it into the good ol' goroawase generator, but it doesn't come up with anything interesting.

Luffy suddenly gets VERY interested in this story after he finds out Shanks was involved. I guess the only time Luffy doesn't fall asleep from someone's backstory is when his favorite character is involved.

Loki backstory flashback time! I wonder how long these "3 minutes" will take us in real time?

"Look! Up in the sky!" Hmm...foreshadowing? That "Superman Fruit" idea might not be so crazy after all?

Loki seems to think Rocks is dead, too. I'm still skeptical, myself. *Looks over in Big News Morgan's general direction*

You know, the guards around the castle are pretty short. I guess Loki and Jarul are just that much larger than "normal" Giants.

The Guards were stabbing Harald. And it almost looks like Harald was in mid-tranformation, like the Gorosei when they go into their Yokai forms.

Scopper thinks it's been 4 years, and Shanks thinks it's been 10 since Roger died. I feel like Oda is definitely at least TEASING the time dilation idea. But...it's far from confirmed. I still feel like this is probably a red herring. I still don't think it makes sense, personally.

Scopper calls Shanks a "Child of Destiny". I DEFINITELY want to know what the original Japanese term used here was. This feels like a important bit of foreshadowing that may get lost in translation.

"Shankun" Heh. The little doll house is kind of cute.

Mmmh...Lingonberry. And probably a spicy story that Scopper interrupts before Shanks can start. Scopper's not the "Minister of Love" for nothing.

Shanks met King Harald when he went back to Mariejois. So, we're narrowing down the timeframe of when Shanks went back to Mariejoise down by quite a bit. It does seem like the most likely time when that happened was right after Roger's execution and his falling out with Buggy.

If you look VERY closely during the bath scene, Shanks DOES have a little cross-mark on his elbow. Could this be a Abyss Mark? It's on his left arm, too. The same arm that ends up getting bitten off. Could Shanks have let his arm get bitten off on purpose, just to rid himself of the Abyss Mark and Imu's control? An X inside a O...hmm...just like the crossbones around the One Piece logo.

And...um...we're getting a flashback WITHIN our flashback. Not the most elegant of segways, but I want to know the backstory, so whatever, I guess.

109 years ago, King Harald is terrorizing a Kingdom that I don't recognize. And we get canon confirmation that Giants age 3 times slower here. Harald is 45, which the narrator tells us is only 15 in Giant years. It's good to have that confirmed.

109 in Goroawase can be read as "enemy" apparently. So, that's kind of interesting. 109 years ago, Giants were seen as more of a "enemy" of mankind.

"109" can be played with the pun "enemy".

"Tell me who your God is?!" Interesting line. Harald's probably mocking them for "worshiping" the Celestial Dragons? But, this whole thing about "gods" is still pretty interesting to me.

Also, Harald seems to have a tatoo on his left eye. Just like Monkey D Dragon does. Even if it is a different pattern. I wonder if there's a connection, there? I hadn't thought about that until now. Both having spiky hair kind of makes them look a bit similar, actually.

Scopper's aging?
If Oda did then it wouldn't mean much in the way of speculation would it?
We know from Lewis Arnot that travellers shouldn't stay long on Elbaf for some reason and then we get Gaban mistaking 10 years for 4 years this chapter and it ain't like it was a random topic as well, it was with regard to when his captain died so does it not make sense to be skeptical about the way time flows on Elbaf?
Another proof that you and the other who believe in this nonsense idea don't read the manga

Read chapter 866 please
