to be honest it zorostans were the ones who threw the first blow and sanji fans reactions is in response to zorostans constant behavior and insults to sanjis character his strength downplaying him and going sanji was used as a hypetool as if it will change the fact sanji and zoro are close in strength etc. and if they didnt do this sanji fans would behave better but due to zorostans actions sanji fans started acting like this in response who threw the first blow in a specific case is irrelevent for they are the ones who started this a while ago
( using zoro to scale sanji is a valid concept zorostans have no issue with saying since shanks beat loki so can mihawk
or saying well shanks dueling mihawk reflectsw on his strength ( which was all of our reactions)
but they will get mad if we apply the same logic to the rivals zoro and sani and will desperately try to claim its just a gag ignoring the narrative portrayal etc comparisons to dorry and brogy etc
( it feels like that zorostans who will deny the fact zoro and sanji are close in strength have this view because they are obsessed with zoros demeanor as the stoic badass warrior and seem to think he should be equal to or greater then luffys strength
they will diss sanji for not having a strength related dream and being a cook as if that will change the fact he is close in strength to zoro and always will be meaning eos sanji > mihawk.
not having a strength focused dream doesnt mean you cant be top tier and have coc see whitebeard
not to mention going well sanji is silly and has some gag moments as if its relevant.
( sanjis opponents have alot more energy then zoros opponents do that doesnt change the fact they are close in strength
people who act like goofy equals weak come off as desperate. a stoic warrior can be weaker then the silly guy.
( it reminds me of people trying to claim queen is slow or doesnt know about speed because of his weight when by that logic luffy should be weaker then bellamy)
not to mention weaponizing zoro's parallels as if they are relevant
I can compare sanji to shanks
( to the point they claimed he was yonko commander straight out of the gate which is baseless)
zoro and sanji both got stronger since fmi and since dressrosa ( not having tough fights is irrelevent the but when would they have trained is irrelevent oda chooses when to make them get stronger
"
You weren't around long enough then. All this toxicity started when Sanji fans mentioned Sanji was equal to Zoro. As soon as that happened, Zoro fans trashed Sanji every chance they got, calling Zoro = or > Luffy while Sanji wasn't even in the same league.
"
( not to mention slandering his character in various ways or clinging to his gag
or whining about his rule and claiming he should get rid of it when no he shouldnt
it doesnt matter that its impractical no one would ask zoro to break his code of honor)
Not really. First arc after Baratie Oda established that Sanji can take the number 2, then we see the parallels and symbolism of Dorry/Broggy to Zoro/Sanji. Then we saw Oda scale Zoro/Sanji's opponents in Ennies Lobby to near equals to further enforce the idea.
in response to someone arguing about whiskey peak
And I wouldn't say they were portrayed as equals, it was hust portraying them as monsters, kind of like how Luffy, Zoro, Sanji were portrayed that way when taking out that giant monster in Alabasta.
And if they were truly being portrayed as equals, it wouldn't have been played off as a gag in the end with Nami taking both of them out
Zoro-stans insecurities about Sanji and him even being close in strength is what started the toxicity, not Sanji fans. In truth, the Sanji fandom wouldn't be as big if not for the Zoro-Stans attacking his character relentlessly over this either.
they seem to think that sanji being a cook is relevant to his strength its not ( sanji is also a protector of the crew and a fighter so it doesnt matter that his focus isnt solely on being a fighter or that he doesnt have a dream related to strength zoro and sanji will always be close in strength
it feels like some zorostans seem to cling to zoro being a stoic warrior and convinced themselves that zoro should be the only member of the crew besides luffy who shoudl be top tier when thats nonsensical.
or go well sanji has these silly moments and got used as a hype tool when that doesnt changethe fact sanji and zoro are close in strength ( sanji getting stomped by doffy doesnt change the fact zoro and sanji are close in strength
( zoro has shown nothing that said he would do better you cant go well zoro hasnt had a tough fight since wano that means he coudl beat doffy etc or is somehow stronger then sanji by a large amount
oda being willing to have snaji be put in bad situations doesnt counter the fact he and zoro are close in strength
(sanji being bit doesnt change the fact his moment against ethan was just as impressive as zoros
it just emphasizes speed and mobility while zoros emphasizes power so he got sent flying back getting caught by jinbe ) while sanji stayed in the same place ( which allowed ethan to immediately retaliate)
zoro was never stronger then luffy ( and he was never equal to luffy as in he wouldnt tie with )
and the gap got bigger with the timeskip
dressrosa zoro gets stomped by doffy ( there is no evidence against this) and zoro and sanji both got stronger since fmi and dressrsosa ( not having tough fights is irreelvent oda doesnt need to give them tough fights before makign them stronger in between arcs)
current zoro hard to extreme diff sanji thats how its always been.
