You do realize Smoker is the closest person to Kuzan in the series right?? Kuzan's introduction in the series pre-TS & post-TS both involve Smoker. Kuzan's last panel pre-TS was with Smoker. Smoker already had a story playout with a traitor of the Marines, where Smoker had to throw away his pride for a pirate, instead of properly taking revenge for the underlings that were harmed. Now his literal bestfriend (as far as we know) has turned on the Marines, is actively causing causalities.......

There's a reason Koby and Kuzan had ZERO INTERACTION at Hachinuso, cause Oda doesn't give a shit about the "Garp's protege" storyline. Garp has like 20 Proteges.

Then heading to laughtale, then the final war which by itself will be few hundred chapters like all "final wars" in major shonens (ASSUMING ODA DOESNT CREATE MINI ARCS INBETWEEN)

-> Blackbeard Pirates war alone will take more chapters than the Onigashima raid.
-> The Gorosei battles will take more than the Onigashima raid
-> The Void Century flashback
-> Reactions of the world regarding Luffy becoming the Pirate King


There's way too much going on in One Piece for Oda to end this within 90-100 chapters, without rushing the hell out of things. We're likely not going to see the end until chapter 1600 (maybe more, who knows).

It's much easier to make Smoker go through insane powerups than it is to make Koby go through them, due to the fact he possesses a Devil Fruit.

Of course, Oda can also always go through the "Smoker didn't showcase his full powers in Punk Hazard" scenario as well, to justify a boost in power. Since all his losses can be explained easily:

Vergo: Only lost cause he prioritized safely getting Law's heart, due to a debt he feel he owed him.

His raw untrained no genes coa is better than Old Garp, the only old legend that still trains everyday, acoa+acoc, his coo is better than most characters when the plot does not gimp him/invisibility shenanigans.

Smoker requires acoc, ryou, coo, endurance out the ass, broken awakening that counters cold, and he cant use seastone either.

There's barely an argument for smoker outside of admiral fans hating Koby and Smoker has a logia and aura bruh!!!

No he's not on Garp's physical prowess, y'all be just making up random shit by taking panels out of context. Even Kuzan himself isn't.

-> He's shown ACoA, in a singular brink of death attack against a slow ass hand, after which he needed to be saved due to how much it exerted him.

There were handful of YCs available at Hachinuso for Koby to directly engage against, did he? No

There was Kuzan himself at Hachinuso for Koby to directly engage against, did he? No... in fact they didn't have a single interaction

That lil gimmick powerup isn't turning Koby from a kid who struggled against Kuja fodder who Smoker pre-TS would've neg-diff'd. Tf are we doing here???

Doesn't need Acoc. Ryou he already could've had it in Punk Hazard and we simply not know. He had superior endurance/stamina to Luffy in Punk Hazard. A simple awakening powerup dependent on how strong it is can boost him levels, then he gets powerups during the fight against Kuzan itself akin to Luffy's numerous ones against Kaido.

He can still use the seastone Jitte.
