Islam should have stayed down for that Topuria fight as a way to make a statement instead of moving up, since legacy is important and it removes doubt as to whether Islam moved up as a way of avoiding a challenger for the belt due to risk-to-reward ratio.

Islam's lightweight run isn't gonna look that impressive in the long run
Volk 2 on short notice, life and death with about to retire, Dustin, who already got choked twice in title fights and is coming off 1 win against the N13, Moicano...
He has barely any decent names on his resume before fighting for the belt as well unlike guys like Merab who already beat Yan, Cejudo, Aldo etc..
Jack fought 2 month ago and got hella damage. He's not fighting for atleast 5-6 more month imo so Islam could easily have faced Topuria on this card and then moved up but I don't think they like fighting more than once in a year over in Dagestan.

If they fought and Islam won, Topuria would undeniably be the best name on Islam’s resume.

That’s why him moving up isn’t a great look.

Arman can't beat him.

Only Islam can beat Topuria in this division, since he's a threat in both striking and wrestling. This makes it almost impossible for Topuria to put his usual pressure on Islam if he keeps his distance with the reach advantage, and very VERY dangerous kicks, plus cage wrestling.

Arman's only threat is wrestling, and I'm pretty sure Topuria can adapt to that very well.

It's a shame, but we'll probably never see it. Islam will most likely never return to LW, and we'll have to watch joke fights like Topuria vs. Pimblett because the UFC is a complete joke.

But Luffy vs Topuria can be a banger tho, Luffy is awesome, but still have to see how he deal with pressures strikers.

Arman can beat Ilia, he looks confident here, the odds will be wild
Big opportunity for big buck

Topuria’s base martial art is wrestling btw (look up his history). His core skill set isn’t even his striking which is crazy.

The man mid air reversed a take down from Oliviera and landed in side control.

Wrestling will be even less effective on Topuria than it was in Volk vs Islam 1.

I don't see these current top lightweights beating Topuria outside of a lukcy ko but Islam has the best chance even if i think he gets slept as well.
Ilia will beat Paddy and maybe one more lightweight and then retire i think. He isn't staying in this division very long.
Islam will get tkoed by Jack at welterweight and will refuse to comeback down to lightweight to fight a more dangerous boxer.

Great video. Jon Jones ducking Aspinall retroactively makes his whole career look worse.

Refusing to rematch Gustaffson before being forced
Refusing to rematch Reyes and leaving the UFC
Asking for ridiculous sums to fight Ngannou
Causing the only canceled UFC event history by refusing to fight fucking Chael Sonnen on short notice

Before the Aspinall ducking you could maybe give Jon the benefit of the doubt in all of the above situations but now it's way more questionable @SakazOuki @Bullet

Combine the ducking history with PED scandals and I don't think I can have Jones as the GOAT no matter how legendary his LHW run was

How can you be the goat while having the most failed drug tests in the sport?
Jones's legacy is overrated as well
Half his title wins are against bums
Anthony Smith, Tiago Santos, OSP are his last 3 light heavyweight wins iirc (Reyes doesn't count).

We already have several fighters who are arguably more skilled than he is in Volk, Islam, and Topuria.
Sorry not everyone can just freely juice and beat up fat old men who should realistically be one or two weight classes below him.
