That's also on Bleach tho. Bleach is a manga that's style over story.
Kubo's great at art, hype, etc, but delivering on the story, not so much.

SS is the best arc in Bleach and it goes downhill from there.
I agree

Kubo is a great hype machine and can create nice character and the setting was great

but his writing is all over the place lol

Sorry for Aizen not to be written by someone else but Kubo one is the only one I know

Because there are better written ones that have already been kicked out.
Mostly because they are far less known (I’m obviously guilty of that too)

Meruem is cool too, no denying that. He's got hype, the cool factor, but they fall short of Aizen's. Aizen falls short of Meruem's writing no doubt.
Yeah but like I said

Meruem is 7/10 cool factor
And 8/10 writing factor

While Aizen is 8 or 9 cool factor
2 or 3 writing factor

The also begs the question, could another author, better in writing, create Aizen in the first place tho? Would that still be Aizen?

We're gonna veer off into a completely different direction lmao.

Say, wouldn't an Urasawa Aizen be the GOAT tho?

Yeah, that's true, of course, not everyone read all the manga out there. Tho, that's why I like these tourneys, they can promote lesser known ones.

If I were to put it into numbers

Meruem is a 6-6.5/10 cool factor.
9/10 in writing.

Aizen is a 10/10 in cool factor.

And 4-5(6 being generous)/10 in writing.

@RayanOO I reckon a lot of Bleach fans would agree with what we're talking here.

Aizen in terms of writing solely is not a great villain/character. He's ok, fine, good at best.

Aizen in terms of everything else tho, design, power, swag, aura, badassness, etc - great to amazing.

Factoring everything in - Aizen is a great villain.

Factoring only the writing he's good at best.

@Jaguark101 @MonsterKaido @Blackbeard @comrade @Marimo_420 @Kizaruber Eats etc etc thoughts?
Better written than Thorfinn and Askelad. @RayanOO

Griffith and Johan too :endthis:

😂

I do agree with your first tagged quote. Bleach isn't an intricate series. It just flows very well, and the characters are often carried by aura and design.

Same for Aizen. He's not the most complex villain of all time, but does a villain need to be complex to be great?

@RayanOO
While he isnt uber complex, he does have good charcaterizatin tho, although his characterization is left far too late. After the defeat at the hands of Ichigo. Kubo should have sprinkled more clues in thoroughtout the series.

 I need a whole Bleach reread

I missed the GOAT he was
You're missing out, Rayoo
:willight:

Your memories must have been wiped.

Also does not help for bleach as a whole, when most of the world building and lore is stuck in LNs and not the manga itself.

Yeah I brought that up here earlier

I don't agree tho.

Aizen’s not a particularly deep character let’s just be real about that. This man is not Guts. He’s not Lelouch. He’s not sitting in a dark room journaling his pain and questioning his morality. Kubo never really dives into his backstory, never gives us that emotional anchor or a clear sense of what really made him tick. The only time we get even a hint of something more is during his fight with Ichigo, when Ichigo basically calls him out for wanting someone to reach his level that whole 'lonely god' vibe. And it’s a cool idea. For a second, it feels like Kubo’s about to peel back the layers. But it goes nowhere. No flashback, no real emotional payoff, nothing. It’s more of a passing thought than an actual attempt to flesh him out.

But here's the thing, that doesn't mean Aizen is mid. Not even close. He doesn’t need to be a super complex, tragic, multilayered character to be great.

Aizen thrives off presence. The aura this guy brings is insane. Maybe only Kenpachi in Bleach can compete with him when it comes to dominating every scene they're in. From the second he drops the fake nice guy act, ditches the glasses, and slicks his hair back, you know he’s different. This man walks into a scene and immediately makes it 1000% more interesting. The aura is ridiculous. Glasses Aizen was just some polite bookworm dude. Then he slicks his hair back and suddenly he’s the final boss of reality itself. Tell me that transformation wasn’t clean, you can’t. The confidence, the way he talks, the way he moves, he’s always ten steps ahead of everyone and knows it. He’s scary because he talks like he already read the script, edited it, and added a few lines for dramatic flair. Every time someone thinks they’ve got him cornered, he’s like, 'Actually, I planned this 78 episodes ago. You’re exactly where I want you.' That calm, smug energy makes him way more unsettling than some screaming rage villain.

Every time Aizen shows up, it's hype. You want to see what he’s going to do next, because you know it’s gonna be wild. His design is clean, his voice acting is top-tier, and Kyoka Suigetsu is one of the most busted powers in anime, and it’s not just strong, it’s cool. Even when he’s just talking, you're locked in, waiting for the moment he flips the table. That kind of presence? You can’t fake that.

Aizen is the kind of villain who pulls up, folds half the cast like origami, gives a ten-minute smug monologue, and leaves without breaking a sweat. He doesn't need a sad backstory. He doesn’t need a relatable motive. He’s Aizen. He just shows up, flexes on everyone with zero effort, and makes you enjoy being clowned on.
You can't handle the reiatsu of Aizen lil Al...

I also agree with a lot of what you said.

Not everything tho, can't have that happening :mrgo:

The way I look at it is like this:

If you ask me to simply choose a better written character/villain between Meruem and Aizen. I am going Meruem every single time.

If you ask me to choose the one I like more/the more entertaining one/more hype/cooler/etc villain/character between Meruem and Aizen. I am going Aizen every single time.

When we take everything into account, the writing, the character, the enjoyment, the hype factor, cool factor, swag, aura etc, if you ask me to choose between the two I'd rack my brain honestly.

If we're talking solely writing, then there are many villains who have better writing/are better written than Aizen. Johan, Light, Makima, Meruem, Griffith, Millennium Earl, etc etc, and that's for sure.

But Aizen's aura carries him further than his writing ever could.

Overall Aizen's pretty cool, has hella swag and aura, but the writing is not the best yeah.

In the 3way fight for the final place moving forward between Marik, Ainz and Friend, Marik won the spin and gets to advance further.

Aizen
Meruem
Yami Marik
William James Moriarty

Are the villains advancing to the next round.
