Character Discussion Don’t sleep on Kong

Kong is definitely a character to look out for.

There was this other Shōnen Manga that was sterilized in the Shōnen Jump Magazine from 2007 - 2010. Japanese fans in the earlier days speculated that Oda might have based Kong on the protagonist of it. Of course, there was never confirmation of that, but the time could fit since Kong's debut was in Manga Chapter 0, which came out in 2009. Still just speculation.

The Manga is called Kongo Bancho. The main protagonist is tall and also very muscular. He has superhuman strength and can even harden his fists.

(Akira Kongo)

What's interesting here is that this guy basically fights other gang leaders and searches for the masterminds in the background, to prevent them from controlling Japan.

I don't think he'll get an important plot point or anything like that. He gets one fight and that's that.
I imagine Nika supporters are charging towards the Pangea castle while the admiraLs and Va's are already fighting other allied forces and when they are confident they can make it, a giant 🦍 attacks them.
He loses to (Jinbe?, Loki?, Yamato?) who knows.

Ehhh Gaban was a different case though

He was almost guaranteed to be relevant at some point due to the naming scheme (Gold, Silver, Copper) and many theorized that he would either appear in Elbaf or Lodestar to guide the SHs

Kong doesn’t really have a “role” in the story. Akainu is the face of the Marines and the Gorosei/Imu are the big bads

I don’t think Kong will ever actually be important

If I’m being honest I doubt he’ll ever get an onscreen fight

I predict that he will start making moves before the final war when the marines collapsed due to sword, admirals defecting and Cross Guild (Sengoku said CG will weaken marines morals).

He’s going to make Warcury’s durability look average in comparison.

Gaban isn´t relevant, he was relevant in the past. He´s now retired.

Kong is irrelevant to the government during unprecedented crisis´s. The Gorosei did something at the start of the final saga while Kong didn´t even get a reaction piece moment for a reason. They have a role in the final saga and Kong won´t

Kong is the intermediary. While not the most important by any means, he will coordinate and prepare the marine, ciper pol, seraphim, impel down, holy knights, gorosei and imu for the final war.

kind of a baron tomago like role in the final war.
In a war scenario I imagine whoever takes him down will cause the world government to lose all coordination in the final war. If he goes down everything goes to shit for the world government.
