Listen, down here in Rio, there are people that call it each other both "Viado" and "Bandido" in a friendly manner. They mean faggot and bandit respectively. Ofc, this can and does cause a lot of misunderstanding, especially when there are older people involved. If you guys had simply said there is similar use for it from the get go, there wouldn't be no need for this dumb exchange. I'm not fucking American, never being to America and i don't need to know everything about your culture. I apologize if you felt i was being racist. I take this stuff seriously.

"Negro" is the official designation for African people in Brazil. In Portugal and Angola, they use the word "Preto". Now, i have seen a couple people from Angola complaining that Negro is a slur and the same thing happens with Brazilians. Nowadays, you gotta be careful with the words you use around people. You never know how they are going to take it.
