Demon Slayer was shitting on One Piece in sales. That's the thing, but I think all of it comes from Japan. It was so overwhelming that it was impossible to ignore even for the West. Not because it was entertaining but simply because it was like "this manga is apparently lapping every other series in sales" But no one really fucks with Demon Slayer like that over here because it's simply too mid to care for.
Yeah like i said if its because of japan that makes sense, there are series that are generational there no one here cares

Death note, AOT, OPM etc.. took the planet by storm and you can understand why and even they couldn't touch OP in sales, yet the mother of mid shonen slop was doing 5x or 6x yearly OP sales after it had already ended

On top of that it had a PHENOMENAL anime and movie back to back
Rengoku was also pretty goated
Also it was in its final arc so many ppl were jumping on the ending hype train, happened to JJK too
Demon slayer sales is a phenomenon that can never be replicated ever again. It was just the right place and time
