I love how not only did Gabyan in the present seemingly just start rambling about hot chicks from the good old days, EVEN THE NARRATOR is sorta making an excuse now to talk about the Kuja Pirates like, "Look, reader, it was the '20's, I didn't listen to Taylor Swift, but it'd be absurd if I was skimming a history lesson for you and didn't mention her"
I think the reason for all the Kuja related stuff is set up to lead into them running into the Rocks pirates and losing a davy back which will lead to Gloriosa and possibly Shakky as well being forced to join Rocks pirates.
Then I think Oda will use this as a sort of way to connect the Roger pirates to the Rocks pirates by having them try to rescue their idols lol.
I agree though, people heavily underestimate how long of One Piece is left, this shit got at least another 5 years lol.

Rocks was all about ambition and schemes.
Everything we know about Shiki, canon and non-canon, indicates Shiki was the most like Rocks, out of the Rocks Pirates we've seen up close, in terms of recruiting, scheming, and ambition.
If the Galley-Ra Shipwrights were involved in Pluton's creation, then it looks like Rocks was after Pluton, like Shiki most likely was, too (Shiki canonically wanted Roger to join him to take an Ancient Weapon. Doubt it would be Uranus, that's Imu's, and no way it was Poseidon based on the timeline).
Chapter 0 IS canon. Shiki did fight Roger after asking him to join forces to get an Ancient Weapon.
This leads me to always wonder: is the end of Chapter 0 canon, then? What if Shiki's 20 year plan is real: we just haven't seen it yet? What if his canon plan is completely different from his non-canon plan?
IMO Oda is using this flashback to set up some of the surviving Rocks Pirates, as well (not including Kaido and Linlin who are also still alive)

Oh shit, here we go again, another damsel in distress in a rescue arc 
In chapter 1096, when we got a glimpse of God Valley, Roger specifically says "It's been a year. Do you know how I felt this whole time?" which clearly hints that they had a run in with the Rocks pirates a year before God Valley and things may have not gone their way.
They failed and after a year, they got word of God Valley and came back to succeed this time.
Oda always glazes how insane Roger was and how he overcame everyone, I think this could be a good way to show one of the L's he took and how the Roger Pirates bounced back.
Roger is a damn fool. Young Gloriosa is amazonian kino while young Shakky looks like Nami with black hair and duck lips. But fr Nyon aged like shit, so he probably used future sight haki bs to see which of the two wasn't going to look like a garden gnome in 40 years. Rayleigh and Gaban truly got the better end of the deal.
