I'm aware that a recurring theme in One Piece is inherited will but I really love the idea of Mihawk just being a guy who came from nothing and became the best of his craft. Unlike other top-tier characters, Mihawk isn't a guy who let his craft consume his life, he still has hobbies and ambitions outside of swordsmanship which make him the well-rounded person he is today.

Does Mihawk even resemble Rayleigh or Shakky in any way?

Also, Mihawk's castle being the place where a kid raised by a Kozuki hung out for 2 years is a nice coincidence.

But then again I thought king would be from impel down, bonney and big mom would be related, Kidd and Shanks would have personal history etc so LMAO FML.

for all we know oda could have intended these things but he's admitted to changing the story and improvising a lot of it too.

I don't have much faith in this theory anymore but if it happens I'll kinda be happy about it but not as much as I would have been before too. I'm also partially in favour of Nerona Mihawk too. Perona is too much of a weird coincidence, nod etc.

My biggest question with Mihawk right now is how he developed the Hawk Eyes. I'm thinking it's a CoO thing, but I'm not sure.

Really interested in the genetic profile of male Kuja, since if Mihawk is one, he's the only one we've definitively seen.

There are quite a few similarities between Mihawk and Hiei. I think his eyes come from being a genetic anomaly or CoO like you said. The Hiei inspiration also supports the theory that Mihawk and Hancock are siblings, if you wanna go there.

Yknow, while this isn't Mihawk himself, Shanks actually uses a technique that sets his sword ablaze in Film Red. And I think Oda said the abilities we see in Film Red are canon (even though the movie it self isn't really canon). And given that Kinemon and Zoro can also use that technique, I'm willing to bet Mihawk could too. If so then it would probably confirm that Oda based Mihawk off Hiei to a degree, would definitely make sense as Kishimoto based Sasuke off Hiei and Oda has a character named Karasu that's sort of similar to Karasu from YYH (wearing all black, wearing a mask on their face permanently, and using winged creatures to attack people). The YYH references run deep in certain animes
