What I expected: great chapter to read, the leaks didn't do it justice.

So, Garling took Shanks and Shamrock, and Dragon stole them from the CDs. Makes sense.

4 in Japanese is associated with death... I think we'll see Teach invade in 43 of Yamato's Cover Series, and it will end on 44, since Wano is so death focused.

43, Yamato sees Teach invading.

44, Yamato goes to Zunesha to fight the Blackbeard Pirates. Cover Series ends, setting up the battle royale for Pluton.

It really sucks that scum like the Celestial Dragons exist in real life.

I will forgive goda this lame ass cover story if this coverstory ends with total yamato death :finally:

Yes after 20 years as soon as he saw/decided Luffy was ready to claim it as a test
He playing jedi master again, gonna get shanked by BB tho
Do you think he is just testing luffy? The only problem for me is that I'm not a fan of a "fight between friends, with no real danger or consequences"

Maybe shanks believes he is the child of destiny (gaban's words)? Then would he believe he is the right person to take the one piece?

Dont know what his "true" motivation obviously, could be more than a "test" or fight between friends, sure. But i think its giga copium to deny that him deciding to go one piece at this moment after reading the news about luffy is not tied to him.
He wasnt going for a decade even if he had the oppurtinity similiar to WB
I heavily doubt he had a over night relevation that he is suddenly the big cheese

He saw luffy with the white hair in the news, he was just waiting for nika to go after the one piece

As a character, for sure.

He does seem surprisingly weak at 17. I suspect he will consume a Mythical Zoan DF before the flashback is over.
One Piece power equations looks like this:

Genetics + Strong Setting + Mentorship/Training = Top Tier

Luffy has top tier genetics, a great fruit, and was raised by Garp, to survive in the wilderness.

17-year-old Luffy had spent 10+ years living in the jungle fighting everything.

Dragon? I think Dragon was raised more spoiled, up until God Valley.

Dragon's Mom? She's alive, we've seen her: I think it's just Dadan. Garp and her have a close relationship; Garp survive Dragon becoming a Rev because of God Valley, but Dadan could no longer support the Marines/Garp supporting them, and was made a criminal because of Dragon.

Could be, maybe Lodger told him you can get only to the one piece with Nika
But even if that would be the case for example that doesnt change the fact this era is not Shanks era, he is a passive mediator, even confirmed by the gorosei. Shanks making big moves is unlike him, as opposed to the gallery of "eras" we have

Thank you Garp for being the hero that saved the kind CDs who were gently killing an entire island of people including women and babies and mostly people who couldn't fight back.

Dude's coming like he's gonna do the right thing. "Look at me, I'm fighting Roger and Rocks, they are pirates trying to save a girl who is going to be turned into a sex slave, I'm the good guy here. Keep doing your killing CDs, nothing wrong with killing a bunch of innocent people every once in a while".

How the fuck are we supposed to see Garp as the good marine? He's no different than Akainu or Greenbull.
I think Garp fought the CDs, but it was covered up by them dying. Only God's Knights we've seen post-God-Valley that were on it are Shamrock, Gunko, and Sommers.

I think a Gorosei, a few God's Knights, and most CDs died. I do wonder if Kuma saved any CDs. I could see Kuma saving Homing, or Homing watching God Valley/Kuma

Homing left Marijoa 5 years after God Valley, 33 years ago. I think God valley was a big reason Homing left Marijoa; God Valley is partially responsible for Doflamingo's rise.

I don't think many people made it off God Valley.

Gunko's presence explains shit perfectly:

The Entirety of God Valley is getting Domi Reversi'd

On the cover page, Yamato makes it back to the Flower Capital. This is a really nice image. There's not much going on, but it's very picturesque. Still not sure where Oda's going with this, though.

"Are they Buccaneers, too?!" Well, that's kind of a interesting thing to say. So, the Buccaneers seem to have a connection to the Davy and D-Clans. They're probably not the same thing. But, maybe they were all on Joyboy's crew together, or something?

We get a clearer look at Lil' Blackbeard's mom. Kind of strange hair, but otherwise, yeah...a normal Oda woman. And poor Lil' Blackbeard got traumatized. Before the "Games" even started. I guess he was a pretty sensitive kid?

I think the "Bavette" Family is new. So, that's another of the 20 Families down, I suppose. Maybe that's the one with the Skull Helmet?

"God's Steel"? Hmm...well, they might be talking about Garling, or that could be someone new. I don't think it's entirely clear who that is.

EDIT: Okay, apparently TCB's translation is off, and they're talking about Gunko? Maybe?

Gunko's outfit feels VERY similar to Revolutionary Girl Utena. I wonder if that was a inspiration?

Dragon's entire platoon got executed while he was away. That's...odd? I mean, it would make sense if the Celestial Dragons killed them off, so there wouldn't be any witnesses. But, none of the other Marines were killed off, in other parts of the island. We see other Marines later on in the chapter. So, it doesn't seem like the Celestial Dragons or God's Knights did this. So, who killed Dragon's platoon and why? Or is the idea supposed to be his platoon was killed off BECAUSE Dragon tried to save Shanks and Shamrock. The thing is...that doesn't make sense, because he doesn't have them yet, in this scene. Either this is just some REALLY unclear art. Or somethings up.

EDIT: Or TCB's translation this week is just especially off? That's possible, too? I guess I'll have to wait and see what the official says, later.

Rocks' Crew is first on the scene! So..why did Barbel change his hair, anyway? Did he just shave his head out of mourning for Shakky getting kidnapped? Even Silver Axe Kyo wants Shakky!

"I'm just here to save a friend...that being said, if she did fall for me I wouldn't complain" Whitebeard's so tsundere!

Gloriosa wants to save Shakky just so Roger would be grateful. Man...I REALLY feel bad for her. She's a good egg, deep down. She deserved more love.

Huh. I never noticed the front of Rocks' ship before. Could that dead body that's on the figurehead of his ship be...Davy D Jones?! Not much to go on, but he seems to have a suit on. Huh. That's almost definitely going to be someone important later on.

Dragon's already found and rescued baby Shanks and Shamrock! Huh. What a efficient guy! I mean...this kind of continues our trend of not actually getting to SEE Dragon do something! But, at least we know he did, at last, do something. Even if it was mostly offscreened.

The Roger Pirates are here. Took them long enough, the lazy bums! Heh. I do like that Roger's crew just runs him over in their hurry to get to Shakky first.

We get to see more of the Knights of God/God's Knights. And...yeah, a few of these guys don't look human. The one with the shades looks like Derringer or Avalo Pizarro's mom? And another looks like they have some Giant or Ancient Giant blood in them. Kind of wish we got some more names for these guys. I'm REALLY curious about Skull Helmet guy. Or who the girl is who seems like the second in command, if being by Garling is any indication.

And last but not least...Garp's Fleet is here! The stage is set! Everyone is here! Finally! We can see...

...And there's a break next week! ARRG! Oh well, we've waited this long for God Valley. Another two weeks won't be too bad...I guess.

Roger said his son would find the one piece (after they left laugh tale)
Then I thought he told that to Shanks and Shanks cried
Then I thought Shanks stole the fruit and was trying to find ace in goa kingdom. But luffy ate the fruit and shanks realized luffy is joyboy, not ace

But now oda made gaban (who was in laugh tale and know "everything about the true history") tell shanks that he is the child of destiny

I dont know nothing anymore
