Here’s a rundown of the 10 characters that generate the most heated, never-ending discussions on WorstGen Forums (a large One Piece–focused community). The list is based on long-standing thread counts, recurring debates, and how often these characters spark “power-scaling wars” and controversial takes:

1. Kaido

Why debated: “Strongest creature” hype, Flame Dragon Torch feats, comparisons to Roger/Whitebeard, and the question of whether Luffy truly beat him 1-on-1.
Typical arguments: “Is Kaido still strongest post-defeat?” vs. “Admirals > Yonko.”

2. Monkey D. Luffy

Why debated: Gear 5’s reality-warping powers, Joy Boy status, and whether he already sits at Pirate King/Top Tier level.
Typical arguments: “Luffy > all Yonko already?” vs. “Still needs endgame growth.”

3. Admirals (Akainu, Kizaru, Aokiji)

Why debated: Admiral vs. Yonko power scaling is the forum’s single most persistent war.
Typical arguments: “Akainu > Kaido,” “Kizaru vs. Gear 5,” “Greenbull feats were underrated.”

4. Blackbeard (Marshall D. Teach)

Why debated: Yami + Gura combos, “endgame final boss” theories, and how his durability stacks up.
Typical arguments: “Teach is already strongest” vs. “He still needs a third fruit.”

5. Shanks

Why debated: His mysterious power level, one-armed supremacy, and the “Yonko portrayal vs. feats” debate.
Typical arguments: “Shanks > Mihawk,” “Shanks vs. Blackbeard outcome,” “Is his CoC the strongest?”

6. Mihawk

Why debated: Title of “World’s Strongest Swordsman,” Zoro’s end goal, and whether he’s above Yonko level.
Typical arguments: “Mihawk > Shanks” vs. “Shanks’ Haki > Mihawk’s sword.”

7. Zoro

Why debated: “Zoro vs. Luffy” internal rivalry, King fight feats, and constant “Admiral-level already?” claims.
Typical arguments: “Zoro > Luffy at Wano,” “Zoro can cut Kaido solo.”

8. Big Mom (Charlotte Linlin)

Why debated: Inconsistencies in her portrayal—terrifying power vs. comedic losses.
Typical arguments: “Big Mom > Kaido,” “Law & Kid only won by plot.”

9. Sanji

Why debated: Power spikes (exoskeleton, Ifrit Jambe), Lunarian genes, and Zoro vs. Sanji matchups.
Typical arguments: “Sanji > Zoro endgame?” vs. “Still YC2 level.”

10. Gol D. Roger & Rocks D. Xebec (tie)

Why debated:

  • Roger: Whether he truly outclasses all Yonko/Admirals or if “prime Whitebeard = Roger.”
  • Rocks: Pure speculation—what his true power was, and whether he was stronger than Kaido/Whitebeard combo.
You know this is wrong cause Vergo and Doflamingo are way more talked about than most these characters.

There is no recovering for this clown he already let ace get killed right Infront of him after Roger entrusted him to protect him. He did end up sacrificing himself for coby so he had zero excuse in marineford
Woby will have a very good impact though so it will end up good

Still doesn't excuse larp letting akainu kill him he was just hot headed kid
And I mean the afterlife exists, who knows, if Nika is the actual deity and he appears, we may actually see Ace again or hear about how he's doing

Wait, the Mihawk paint meme is real?

NGL I like this scenario where Mihawk didn't teach Zoro a thing on purpose and that every new ability Zoro acquired during the damn timeskip was by his own merit.

Ace got himself into this Situation lol
Ace is a dumbass who fell for the weakest bait imaginable, true, but he was a dumb brat with a lack of discipline because Garp wasn't responsible enough to raise Ace or Luffy himself properly, instead leaving them with a well-meaning but highly irresponsible and maternally inexperienced mountain bandit.

Garp did jackshit to help beyond talking to Ace. The best he could do was take a punch from Luffy. I mean, he bitches about his boys not becoming marines, so his solution was to leave them to be raised by a mountain bandit near the criminal-infested district of Gray Terminal instead of with Makino and Woop Slap like Luffy initially was. Why not just take them in as his apprentices like he did with Coby and Helmeppo? Brilliant parenting Garp. Solve your boy's fascination with a criminal by sending him to go live with another criminal.

Garp's reputation is in complete shambles now that we know he's a bigger lapdog for the nobles than even Akainu, who of all people is openly antagonizing them now alongside Fujitora. The Marines are now responsible for more evil in the world on a triennial basis than all the pirates in the series combined.

Nika truly was the final nail.
Nika didn't help, but what I really think is killing this forum is loss of passion for the story. Straight up you've got people who openly admitted they don't even read the actual chapter anymore and just the spoilers. People who admit they only "read" for a single character or faction. The passion is gone.

Absolutely, and it's not just here. Other OP fan sites are slowing down in activity. The cringe subreddits, the twitter X accounts, the OP wikis, and even Arlong Park only ever has like around ten people now. The only time you ever see activity anywhere is for spoilers, theories, or powerscale agenda topics. The internet was going crazy when Nika was about to premiere in the anime, many claiming it would surpass SSJ hype... but then it just fizzled out quickly. I also think the cast bloat in Wano and Oda's obsession with wanking Oden played a part too, and it shows in how volume sales for that period decreased for a time.

But when I really saw things die down was when Egghead finished. JFC what a trashfire. Poorly written, not a single answer or reveal of note, Vegapunk was a complete disappointment, his message was a nothing burger, the Gorosei make their big debut only to get jobbed by a haki rope plot device, and Franky gets zero screentime with his idol outside of anime filler.

This is a point in the story where things should really be cooking, yet it feels like more of the same or more pointless mysteries, while the Straw Hats themselves once again get zero development. Even Usopp, who is finally on his dream island and may be the first Straw Hat to accomplish his dream, is just... nothing.

Tension is one major reason, if you manga doesn't have it, people gonna lose interest in it.

Adding the five Gorosei to Eggehad was a big mistake, worse than that was the fact that the strawhats escaped the arc(after having a buster call(even stronger) leaded by Kizaru and Saturn) without any major injurie or problem.

Oda way to write villians fall off more since the timeskip. You notice how he didn't even care much for Kizaru vs Luffy.

Compare One Piece when it started VS today.
It is clear that Oda is old now and can't do the stuff anymore what made One Piece special.

One piece is not just about Lore piece, even if people dislike it fights always played a big role.
And back then fights been more interesting because we had different typ of opponents with different unique fightstyles.. from close combat to long range combat.

Oda but lot of work to showcase someone devilfruit power as example. The variation of different attacks and skills been that what made people keep watching the manga. Because it was not one liner like today.

People been hyped about every new arc because every new villian had his own unique df power.

Haki made it more balanced between people who didn't had fruits. But unlike devilfruits, haki seems be kinda "boring" after getting known to it? The varierty of haki is the big problem here.

If the strongest haki is just a shockwave power up everyone is using, then something is wrong because it is not unique. Awakened df are more interesting because they have different variety of skills/meaning.

Given that Oda don't put more details anymore into fights, it doesn't make it better that Adv CoC as example is just a simple skill, everyone is using it who awake it. That is the new super Sayajin. Nen System in Hunter x Hunter is more better because having Nen doesn't mean you have the same ability as the others.

I know after working over 25 years on One Piece, you have not the strenght anymore like in the past. That is where I wished that Oda had a special Editor(old veteran) who helps him out by drawing the fight paneling and putting details in fight skills, making a new whole concept to make haki better. That would maybe also bring back more tension if the fights been better handeled.

I mean with all respect, you guys saw Bochi fight with Ace vs Jinbe or Ace vs Whitebeard?
It is not just the art, it is the way how a Mangaka use the abilities/powers in his own manga, making the battle looking more intense...

That is what One Piece lacks and barely have since the timeskip.

Yeah but Wano was epic with the fights, I think the gorosei just weren't strong enough
