Except for Kintaro, I have noticed Japanese media doesn't have a lot of axemen. Like even during the Sengoku Era, it was only really used by Shohei and Yamabushi.

I think it's seen as a more brutish and unrefined style, compared to the elegant unsheathing of a katana.
