We have images of Mihawk as a child, and he has normal eyes. This is important because it proves that the eyes he has now are most likely a power up. In the original manga, Mihawk's eyes were supposed to be red, like Imu. The fact that Mihawk did not possess these eyes as a child, but had gained them by the time of Roger's execution, means that obtaining these eyes was most likely, a significant moment in terms of him growing his power.

Mihawk is 43 currently, and Roger was executed 24 years ago. Mihawk would have been 19 when we first see him with his eyes; the same age as Zoro when he asked Mihawk to train him.

And Zoro just happens to have an eye that he hasn't opened the entirety of the post time skip? Isn't that interesting.

Mihawk's intelligence is underrated. I'm under the impression that he understands how Domi Reversi and the Abyss works, at least in combat terms. Mihawk wouldn't spoil Zoro's fun by telling him everything, but, he wouldn't want Zoro to be helpless against Imu's powers.

So? Mihawk taught Zoro how to train one of his eyes, to achieve the state Mihawk and Imu's eyes are in naturally.

In 1163, Imu was able to tell Eris and Teach were Xebec's family, as well as new Davy's, simply by looking at them. The red eye has at least some connection to Observation Haki, which is mental based.

IMO, Mihawk taught Zoro this tech, so Zoro could resist Imu's Domi Reversi. Mihawk WANTS Zoro to surpass him, there's no other reason Mihawk would have spent two years training the man. Mihawk would probably be really depressed if the guy he spent two years training just died because of the world governments demonic hax magic.

Mihawk told Zoro "there are some enemies with technique's powerful enough to overtake your own mind. In order to fight this, you need to learn to develop the same kind of eyes as me."

I'd imagine there's a tradeoff, which is why Zoro only has one eye doing this.

I think every Straw Hat besides Luffy, Brook (no blood), Usopp (too negative to turn), and Zoro will get Domi'd, and this eye is how Zoro will resist.

Would love to see, imu Domi reversi on Zoro, only to Zoro to transform into Ashura form and Attack imu only.

mohawk didn't even teach zoro about coc lol

so nah
Then how did Zoro know Luffy used CoC haki during FMI? He said Luffy couldn't be his captain if he couldn't use it and knock out the fodders.

Zoro knows about CoC. He just didn't realize he was using it. Yes, I know that doesn't make any sense. Especially after he was told he was using it. That was just Oda way of holding him back and stopping him for growing too strong too quickly.

Mihawk clearly taught Zoro about CoC, and most likely used it against him, which is why Zoro can sense it in FMI.

But, sensing it in others is not the same as sensing it in yourself.

You can feel another's pain when they're suffering from a disease, but you don't know the actual feeling until it's happened to you. CoC being used against you probably feels completely different from using it yourself.

Rayleigh could train Luffy in CoC because Luffy clearly already had it from his shouts. Zoro still hasn't had a "everyone falls over" CoC shout/glare moment: when Zoro knocks out a shit-ton of people at once, we'll know he's fully unlocking his Color of the Supreme King.

I'd except this to happen either here, in Elbaph, or in Wano Act 4, during the Pluton War.
Zoro is likely not one-eye sword man, he was in training mode for the whole time. This training style is like Goku wearing heavy stuffs when fighting with Tien the second time. In other shonen also shows this. But who knows, he may just got his eye poked when voyeuing the ghost girl
1. I think it would be interesting if Zoro's eye was directional based. Mihawk: "Your sense of direction is pathetic. You must learn to move/navigate with only one eye, to train your Observation Haki." Cue montage of Zoro falling down stairs.

2. Mihawk literally sealed Zoro's eye somehow, and Zoro needs to overcome the Seal with Haki.

The first appearance of Supreme King Haki is in Chapter 1 of the Manga, when Shanks eye-diffs Lord of the Coast:

Oda zooms in on Shanks' left eye, the same eye Zoro has scarred.

When Zoro opens his left eye, is when we'll see him use a CoC Burst for the first time to Domino fodders.

Haki blooms in Extreme Use in Battle, according to Rayleigh.

Once Zoro gets up to Imu, we'll see Zoro's CoC.
