Character Discussion Ranking SH dreams favorite to least favorite

1. Brook - Nice and simple dream with a lot of emotion attached to it

2. Usopp - Can lead to a really great character moment as long as Oda doesn’t fumble it

3. Robin - Will obviously be cool to learn the true history

4. Luffy - Luffy’s quest to become PK is the driving force of the series, so it’s gotta rank high based on that. If his secret true dream is to hear everyone laugh like I’ve been speculating, I think that would be cool too and would feel appropriate for the story

5. Zoro - Nice and simple dream which can lead to cool fights

6. Franky - Nothing really wrong with his dream, but it feels a bit too similar to Luffy’s and Robin’s since all 3 of them basically boil down to sailing to Laugh Tale

7. Nami - The biggest problem with her dream is that it’s literally impossible for it to be achieved in the main story and will likely be done in an epilogue. Also, idk how she can get it done in one lifetime when the OP planet is 42x larger than the Sun @soupongo @SkySanji

8. Jinbe - Just a pretty bland dream tbh, and Jinbe joining the SHs isn’t even necessary for ending racism. That was gonna happen EoS whether or not Jinbe joined the crew

9. Sanji - When was the last time anyone even mentioned the All Blue? It also doesn’t help that Sanji shat on his own dream in FMI

10. Chopper - His dream is literally impossible to achieve, and you already know that the pay off is gonna be either Chopper curing some random disease that Luffy catches, or we’ll just be told in some epilogue that Chopper somehow cured all diseases without getting any explanation for how he did that

I mean, at least his dream is packaged with some sort of character development (even if the payoff ends up being underwhelming). Is there any reason to have any emotional investment in Nami creating a map of the world?

Pretty much none of them have any development in the last 15 years except for Luffys. Though Brook is least affected since his thing will remain I guess. Sanji, Nami, Usopp and Chopper just look like their dreams will be scrapped, and brought up a little eos or somethng.

Luffys dream could end up being the worst, depending on how strong its connection to Nika is.

That’s not really the issue though. The issue is Oda never emphasizing their dreams or really showing any progress on them, and there’s also the fact that some of them are guaranteed to have little to no payoff. For example, how is Nami’s dream gonna be turned into some grand cathartic moment?

That’s cause the fun is in the journey not the destination. Everyone is always working towards their dream but they aren’t letting that dream detract from their adventure.

I was being facetious even if I think there is some charm to seemingly impossible dreams. I'd say only one dream got ruined for good for me and it is Chopper. Oda not letting him cure the Punk Hazard kids was the stupidest shit ever. Impossible to take it seriously ever since
