Since Wano, G5 has basically become Luffy’s new base form in top tier fights. Whereas G4 was reserved as a final trump card against high tiers in dressrosa and WCI, G5 has basically become a go-to form.
Basically Luffy needs a new trump card, specifically against Imu’s forces. Gaban said they weren’t invincible and you need to pay special attention to how you use CoC. But how?
The answer seems more clear with the GV flashback. You have this concept of critical haki mass, basically focusing your haki in a single move to bypass your opponent’s defenses.
This is more than likely the key to beating powerful regen users like the gorosei or Imu who not only have regen but powerful haki as well.
G4 was based around overusing CoA for a temporary buff. G6 might work the same way but with CoC.
We saw how CoC can be used to shield against attacks. Maxing this power and stacking it with G5 rubber would probably make Luffy near invulnerable. Likewise a punch with the full weight of Luffy’s haki might legitimately be more dangerous than BG, as we saw how such moves from Garp ripped Rocks to shreds.
In the fight against Imu, I think Loki will inevitably get DR’d, pitting Luffy against an enemy that could very well be comparable or stronger than domi Rocks.
Gaining full control over his haki mass and using CoC in a manner similar to how CoA is used in G5 is likely the key to beating Domi Loki.
