Big Mom went out of her way to put Whitebeard on a pedestal (even compared to Kaido who she's canonically relative to in strength) when talking about the people she could have crushed if she allied with the warriors of Elbaf, and Kaido was so salty about Whitebeard being above him that he was going to try and bumrush him at Marineford if not for Shanks. That's not much different from Shiki being salty that he couldn't beat Roger in the Edd War and then desperately tried to find him and fight him at Marineford before he was executed.

Kaido put Whitebeard in his top 5 which are all individuals that Kaido have fought. Since we know that it wasn’t during the Rox Pirate era anymore it must’ve occurred during either this rush for territory when both were in their prime. And seeing how after rogers death after this, Whitebeard was treated as the definitive strongest, it must’ve been one of Kaidos 7 losses in his history.
