Ashura increases all of Zoro's stats and haki 3-folds, out of sheer will.

It's basically what Garp and Roger talked about when trying to defeat Domi-Xebec, but Zoro can do it better as he can increase his stats 3 times normal.

1. Ashura is just an illusion, as in his other two selves will not take damage.

2. It's an illusion but it can also cut as if it's real. Zoro performing 9 slashes doesn't mean he is performing an attack with his 3 swords 3 times.

Stronger you are, the higher that percentage gets,

Manifestations imo is not Haki indeed, and it's actually how much can your Willpower influence your Soul,
Brook is proof of this, same goes for Big Mom,

Brook was able to retain Human Functions despite being a Skeleton, all thanks to his Soul,
Not just that, but He also can draw Power from Underworld because his Soul been there,
Big Mom too, by putting Souls in different things, They become able to function like Humans (Such as acquiring five senses),
So the soul is indeed able to modify bodies,

While Brook & BM do it thanks to DFs, Zoro is able to command his Soul to modify his Body through cheer Willpower,
Zoro is indeed born to be Strongest.
