I think they had their reasons. For them the Void Century was just a few generations ago. The Elbaf tradition centers around Nika. They are alligned with our heroes! Harald needed to breed someone of Ancient Giant blood.

Only then would the Ancient Weapon Uranus be born. The Elders knew, just like Neptun knew that Pluton would be born to him.

Shirahoshi and Loki would be a perfect match, indeed: Poseidon and Uranus, the two sovereigns.

Apart from this, Hajrudin is a weakling, no need for prophecy to see this. Another son from that line wouldn't have been much different in all likelyhood. Had Harald stayed faithful to Ida, the ruler of the sky might not have come into existence and Luffy would have been short of a key ally.
