Why is that a seinen? Who decides that? People used to think Attack on Titan was a seinen when it was selled as a shonen. Is because the protagonist is an adult instead? Then DBZ is a seinen?
the guys who are above the author decide on it

iirc Kamen Rider has always been a seinen franchise. It depends on what kind of magazine it releases. There are shounen magazines, seinen magazines and shoujo/jousei magazines. The magazine directors usually tell the author about their standards. Nowadays magazines have much less standards, but they still exist.

So yeah, when an author sends their demo chapters to a magazine it usuallly has to fulfill a checklist of criterias before it can be released in that magazine.

That Kamen Rider spin off for example released in Monthly Hero's, this are their series currently:
ATOM: The Beginning (manga)
Hero Company (manga)
Infini-T Force: Arc to the Future (manga)
Kamen Rider Kuuga (manga)
Kerberos in the Silver Rain (manga)
Killing Bites (manga)
Kinryo Rock (manga)
Majestic Prince (manga by H. Arashima)
Momo: Legendary Warrior (manga)
Sailor Zombie (manga)
Tojima Tanzaburo Wants to be a Masked Rider (manga)
Ultraman (manga 2011)
Working for God in a Godless World (manga)

You can already tell what they all have in common and what the magazine's standards are. Lighthearted/Philosophical, but still bloody.
Also yeah, this seems to be the Kamen Rider magazine, Kamen Rider is a pretty grounded series for how it resolves crime and bloodshed.

They could technically release these mangas in a shounen magazine, but then you won't have that complete package of what a magazine has to offer. Especially older people nowadays will rather purchase a themed magazine too.

As for what exactly the guidelines of a magazine are, idk, but one can get a feel for it over time.

It's also the same reason for why One Punch Man is a seinen and not a shounen.

About AoT. You need to realize that this was super fodder for the anime newbies that came with AoT and recently anime newbies are talking the biggest nonsense I have seen in a while. Ask @AL sama , if I want to I can dig every day posts from twitter/threads or other spaces and find people that get demographics wrong or use these things for argumentation. So yeah, people nowadays tend to get these things wrong, mostly because they are just botting anime/manga down without seeking information about what they exactly are watching lol.

PS: I really can't blame most of the people tho, I was similair a decade ago.

How about Demon Slayer? It is a shonen right? Yet latest movie was classified as 18+ in some contries, 17/16 in others...
That's what I meant with less standards nowadays. Demographics started to become more fluid. There are shoujo series that release in shounen magazines and vice versa.

Here for example Demon Slayer is 16+ labled, one of my coworkers wasn't able to watch it with their 14 y.o. kid. I guess it is what it is.
One Piece technically also has more seinen qualities than shounen qualities. It's just not bloody back to back and that's why it might not be labled 16+ or 18+.

Like the main takeaway here is...don't take these lables for granted and always look at them with a bit wiggle room. At the end the upper ones decide on how these magazines are sold, marketed and later on adapted, and noone will ever fully understand the upper ones. lmao

Also the western media might treat japanese media a bit differently, hands down. Localization and shit like that exists.

Yeah Tojima Kamen Rider series is fucking great. And Tackle is my favorite character for....

Uhhh, obvious reasons.

Teddyloid and Giga composing the soundtracks was the best thing happens to this anime though.
How about now? Tackle is looking pretty awesome now. Anime should be back next Saturday

I think u gonna like Tougen Anki
I started watching for the same reasons. The plot is really bad honestly. The fights are not exciting. And it lacks overall testosterone.

I can definitely see why it's your favorite, that Yakuza guy has the most interesting character plot.. It can go in many direction..
Dude's living his dream right now.. lol
Yall tripping. Tojima is still the best character. He is the biggest dreamer.
