Garling won't be.
Going back and forth on "I think so"'s now helps nobody.
Let's postpone this to the MJ arc. You'll see why Oda kept showing him get put down so harshly by Xebec in GV.

According to the databooks the third kazehage (the guy Sasori killed) is the strongest shinobi and that would include Hashirama

That statement alone makes the databooks questionable at best
Bad translation, hashirama was called the god of shinobi multiple times in databooks, and the strongest shinobi, idk where you found your "info" but its cap anyway
Post automatically merged:

Shanks would make Akainu his wife.

Stop this madness.
Rly doubt that, akainu making bb and his crew run is big

Admirals were referred as 最高戦力 which means highest war strenght/higheset fighting power.
The thing is that there's no unit called "admirals" in the series.
Admiral is a rank , the highest after Fleet Admiral. It happens that there are three individuals sharing this rank, but these three are not part of one properly structured and hierarchized group, they answer to the Fleet Admiral, but that's the case for every marine.
it is reflected in the way Oda introduced them and use them : Each admiral got their own individual introduction.
What I mean by how Oda uses them : Admirals are like lone wolfs, they rarely work together and never take part in the same mission, stuff like Marineford are an exception not the norm (and it wasn't a mission, it's just that all the strong marine were called in)
Aokiji went to meet the straw hats on his own during his introduction
Kizaru was the only admiral sent to Sabaody
Fujitora was the only admiral sent to Dressrosa
Ryokugyu went to Wano on his own
Kizaru was the only admiral chosen to escort Saturn.

Admirals are treated like individuals that all happen to be the equivalent of weapons of mass destruction, not a single homogeneous troop because as I said the unit "admirals" does not exist to begin with.
examples of what is referred as 部隊 in the manga aside rom HKs :
Sword secret unit

Super Spot Billed Duck unit

Basically it's a literacy issue.
Aside from admirals, Gorosei are not concerned by this magazine statement either for obvious reason.
Thanks for the detailed explanation. Yes this makes sense.

Ngl I feel like the only thing Admirals really need at this point are proper detailed fight scenes to shut down the downplay and allegations.

That and maybe some fancy titles maybe. I really don't get why Oda shys away from giving epithets and titles to Marines so much.

"Hero of the Marines" and "Monster Rookies" are the only titles I recall Marines having, meanwhile every other pirate is like The World's Strongest Man/Woman/Creature/Games Journalist etc

He was stronger on GV than Admiral is today, my guy.

I think you have to ignore everything the manga and years of Oda foreshadowing and wank tells you about Shanks, but OK.

I don't doubt Shanks. I can see that Shamrock may be his twin in everything, power included.

But Garling wasn't admiral level on GV and won't be one by the time he is defeated either.

I do.
Shanks is above admirals, and Shamrock might too. Garling? No chance.
Do you rank all of them below him? Or just the "average" Admiral?

I know you aren't heavy on powerscaling but I'm actually curious as to what your personal ranking is like of the heavyweights in OP. IIRC you rate Mihawk highly so I'm guessing you do the same for Shanks too.

I think Shanks can take any Admiral 1-on-1 and win, but not diff.
I don't think all admirals are on the same level, but neither do I think the gap between the original 3 admirals and the 2 new is as big as people make it out to be.
And, lastly, I don't think Garling can be a threat to any Admiral, poor dunked-on Aramaki included.
