I think the difference in this case is that Shanks says to gaban to hold out for loki as he is their final hope, in the same convo where he says he dont want to kill Harald, if i didnt misread (kanji panels kinda small on phone). So shanks coping maybe Loki can handle him without killing him, interpretation wise. @PuckTheGreat how did you translate that scene?

Loki has a goatee as a giant. Plus, there are depictions of dragons with "beards" somewhat like this. Grunbeld comes to mind.
