Never forget that Lord Shino had Neji twerking. Neji legit would’ve lost to Shino in the preliminaries because he didn’t have Rotation yet.

Shino was so goated tbh. He was the only dude to figure out about the Sand’s plan to attack the Leaf before it happened and casually countered Kabuto’s genjutsu. Only reason he tied with Kankuro was because Kankuro had a terrain advantage. If they fought in the Chunin Exams, where Kankuro had nowhere to hide, Shino would put BTA and get promoted to Chunin alongside Shikamaru

Kiba said that out of all the Genin there, Shino’s the one he would least like to go up against, so that cancels out Lee’s statement about Neji.

Neji learned Rotation during the month between the prelims and finals. Neji doesn’t really have anything in his kit that can counter Shino’s bugs swarming him without the Rotation. Only way Neji could’ve won that matchup is if the stat difference is large enough that he can just blitz Shino, which ig is possible, but we don’t really know enough about Shino’s reaction speed to know if that’s possible or not

@soupongo There’s so much that Kishimoto could’ve done to evolve the kits of the K12. Such a missed opportunity.

Shikamaru was the only one who actually got proper development, so no need to cover him.

Choji got a good powerup in the war arc, but it was kinda too little too late for him to be relevant. Should’ve got it in the Pain Arc or Akatsuki Suppression Arc.

Ino was just a Mind Transfer merchant for the entire series. She did get some pretty decent feats though when she mind controlled Obito twice, though I wish she got a Jutsu that would let her be competent in a 1v1.

Neji should’ve represented the apex of what can be achieved with the Byakugan. Imo War Arc Neji should’ve reached Hebi Sasuke level (minus the Curse Mark) since Hebi Sasuke is the pinnacle of what can be achieved with just a 3T Sharingan, and I always thought that the Byakugan was relative to the 3T Sharingan. Neji should’ve gain more abilities in Shippuden besides Air Palm, which honestly feels weaker than the Jutsus he learned in Part 1.

Lee should’ve only had access to the first 4 Gates in the Chunin Exams, pulled out the 5th Gate against Kimimaro, shown of the 6th Gate in the Kazekage Rescue arc, and learned the 7th Gate by the War Arc. Lee only learning how to open one more gate from the start of the series to the end of the series was just dumb.

Tenten should’ve gained some legendary weapons throughout the series.

Shino should’ve added more bugs to his arsenal. Give him Lord Torune’s bugs. Another cool idea imo would be to give him golden beetles that he can wear like armor or use to enhance his striking power. There’s a lot that Kishi could’ve done with Shino since he can just come up with new species of bugs with special effects.

Kiba’s arsenal is kinda mid since he’s reliant on the power of a fucking dog, but ig Kishimoto could’ve given him an entire pack to work with, rather than just Akamaru

Hinata is just a lesser Neji, so there wasn’t really anything interesting to do with her fighting wise

thanks for the correction, but the speed difference is probably enough Imo. Neji should realistically be able to fight weightless Lee, and kept up with Naruto, even with his kn0,which scales to Sasuke somehow

Tbh, even Rotation wouldn’t save Neji from Shino-san’s bugs. The second Neji uses Rotation, Shino can just have his bugs stop advancing and wait out Neji’s Rotation. He has to burn through his chakra to keep Rotation going

Idk, it's a question of global stability vs one Shinobi, even Danzo doesn't bring it up when criticizing Hiruzens decisions at the Hokage nomination meeting. It would have been nice for it to be brought up meaningfully during part 2 during Leaf/Cloud reconciliation

@soupongo Neji was a bit of a statements merchant tbh. Lee objectively had the better feats than him. The only way Neji beats 5th Gate Lee is if he can outlast him, which doesn’t seem likely since one punch from Naruto laid Neji out.

And then there’s Drunken Fist Lee pushing Kimimaro into using the first stage of the Curse Mark, when Base Kimimaro scales above CM2 Kidomaru. Also, Neji honestly got really lucky against Kidomaru. If Kidomaru had just stayed in CM1 and kept hitting him with kunai from Neji’s blind spot, Neji would’ve lost since the only reason Neji won was because CM2 Kidomaru’s arrows have threads connecting them to Kidomaru’s mouth, which Neji could take advantage of to send his Gentle Fist directly to Kidomaru

Appeasement never really works out in the long run irl. The Raikage knows that he can bully the Hokage into making unfair concessions (that Jonin was in the middle of kidnapping Hinata while on a diplomatic mission, so obviously Hiashi was 100% justified in killing him). The Cloud lost one weak ass Jonin that got one tapped by Hiashi, while the Leaf lost Hiashi’s equal in exchange.
