Powers & Abilities Roger isn’t a swordsman

Wasn't it an upward diagonal impact?..

So you're telling me Marco's dad is impressed at Whitebeard destroying that Mountain not because of Whitebeard's powers but because he got sent through it.. Would be simpler to just claim that Marco's dad is mistaken and he's assuming Whitebeard was the one who did that with his Gura Gura no mi..

Also, that's like 1 to 2 miles of straight rock, it's hard to believe Whitebeard would come out clean of an impact that massive..

I'm not going to say either or, after all Rocks did overpower both Roger and Garp.. I don't know..
Idk his mindset but WB fell on a mountain and it shattered and WB is uninjured. Don't think Marco's dad's surprised reaction or just reaction of recognition there was weird, no?

But yeah I think it was very clear that Rocks won that exchange and then just ran

I said Shanks is a Swordsman..

Yes Anime and fiction will deviate from reality like Haki, Flying slashes, Blades will devil fruits.. But the core tenant that will never change is that Swords must cut, if not then Swordsmanship loses its meaning.. You can have a fantastical chair with powers and be sentient, it's fundamental role will still be to sit on it..
Swords didn't need to always cut lol
Literally u had guys that used Rapier and it needs to thrust his opponent to be effective and not cutting, that is still Swordmanship.
Don't talk about fundamental if u didn't knew any of this lol.

I do think that Whitebeard gave up way too quick on Rocks, wasn't he his most loyal crew member?.. And other than that, Whitebeard was pissed.. Marco's dad was a random insert, he's a fan apparently, i don't know..

One thing though Rocks only started to go all out against Roger and Garp, he didn't hardened his Blade against Whitebeard..

They don't need to always cut, but they need to most of the time..

I mean piercing or thrusting with a pointy sword is cutting..
Swords were created as a weapon to cut, why are we kidding ourself?..

No its not, Thrusting isn't Cutting lol. Where do you get that idea.
No wonder u do not know what Swordmanship is, U livin on a blind idea and arguments.
Swords were created to Kill not to Cut, and even incapacitate their opponents without even cutting, thrusting or even any of that. We literally see this type of shi, on any other Anime/Fictions work too. If u want One piece, Kozaburo literally told Zoro that Swords / Katana purpose is for "Kill", He never said to Cut. U literally can Kill your opponents with even Thrusting not just cutting them.
And literally what Roger did was part of his own Swordmanship.

Potato potato, the result is the same, opening up the skin with a Blade to make your opponent bleed and do critical wounds..

And how do you Kill someone with a Sword, by cutting them or stabbing them with a Blade..

What's the point of being disingenuous here.. Actually Kouzaburo did also says that Swords are People Slashing knives,
'' Hitokiri(斬) Houchou '', Kamazou's epithet was Hitokiri(斬) Kamazou, when Zoro got cut by Apoo, he called it a '' Zan(斬)geki '', slashing attack..

Newgate and Garp got far stronger than him, characters like Herald, Loki, Mihawk, Shanks, Akainu, Kaidou, etc all should narratively be far above Roger's strength level

You guys are proving my point.
what point that Roger's legend far surpasses anyone in modern history of the verse?
cause i know you arent talking about strength, cause Dodger wasnt all that to begin with

Yeah i know, arguing that the fundamental of Swordsmanship is not cutting and slashing is wild..
Yeah it's almost like this is a fictional world where the author literally spoke of creating blunt Shockwaves as its own kind of swordsmanship that Rocks used

Good thing that's not the case. What's next? People arguing putting your leg on fire is part of kick oriented martial arts?!

A fictional world is going to alter to a degree the meaning of some given thing or concept.. Flying slashes are a fictitious element, but the core idea of cutting isn't lost.. What makes blunt Shockwaves Swordsmanship, or using your Blade as a magic Wand like Fujitora.. Where is the line when it stops being Swordsmanship.. The motion alone of swinging a Blade is Swordsmanship?..

Putting your leg on fire and kicking with it, still involves kicking.. If Sanji starts to doing fire Ball shockwaves like Marco on Queen, i will call it out.. But i don't think Sanji has ever claimed to be practicing a only kicked based martial art..

its almost as wild and idiotic as somone arguing Zoro doesn't have conquerors haki or its advanced version of it
That's nothing compared to people claiming that someone's whose CoC is not their specialty, is not aware of his CoC, nor how to Control CoC, is somehow able to use AdCoC.. Completely delusional..
