I think JJK has a much better power system and I like the fights more (less countery, better depictions of movement, less one-upping) but almost everything else is worse imo
Mainly the characters. The difference between JJK and Bleach characters is like Heaven and Earth
I enjoyed JJK but if I’m gonna be brutally honest I only legitimately like maybeeeeee 4-5 characters max. Bleach legit has one of the better ensemble casts in shonen (if you disregard almost every Karakura Town character)

It is better written but it isn't as flashed out as it could have been. Still overall better than Bleach, but it's all up to one's personal enjoyement at the end of the day.
Chad, Inoue, Renji and Ishida didn’t impress me at all lol
Rukia is a stand out and better than JJK main cast no problème
but Renji had like one arc, Ishida some moments here and there but outside of that the main cast of Bleaxh is quite poor
Now Yuji vs Ichigo is more of a debate and they are similar
Both Yuji and Ichigo had kinda the same mentality but I think Ichigo isn’t really the best of the two
What Ichigo have :
- better relationship with his MC cast compared to Yuji who has less ties than him
- Ichigo is honestly quite cool especially in the first two arcs (Bankai, Shikai, the flying cape thing etc)
- Ichigo and White relationship was nice
but : Ichigo became too strong too fast, it isn’t that great as a reader. Also being part of every race around was mega stupid, Aizen planning him was lame too, and after the Hueco Mundo his fighting style and power ups became lame. And his overall writing was overall quite poor quite fast.
Yuji is kinda the same but
- his inner monster was really a monster while white became a nothing fast. Sukuna reallly did a number on Yuji, compared to White with Ichigo.
- Yuji power progression is way more coherent than Ichigo one
- Yuji was also planned for a long time by the big bad Kenjaku but it wasn’t as forced as Ichigo
- his range of emotion was better : Ichigo is sometimes kinda depressed, sometimes angry etc. But still quite tame. While Yuji can be completely depressed and ready to die, or so mad that he wants to nuke Mahito on the spot and eat him alive etc etc.
there are other thing to say but I don’t think the main cast of Bleach should be taken as an exemple to showcase Bleach superiority over JJK
It had the potential to be that and much more. Gege was doing some impressive work with his character work and world building on top of delivering high quality action.
The discourse around JJK is going to change radically over the next 5-10-15-20 years.
In the end, I believe the consensus will be that Gege squandered a once in a lifetime opportunity by cutting short an exciting story that could have gone a bare minimum of 400 chapters with opportunities for rich spinoffs.
There's going to be an immense swell of criticism and resentment compounding over not just the measly 271 chapter count, but what was left on the cutting floor to reach that number. Anything addressed in Modulo only risks further agitating fans and critics.
To bottom line it, history won't be kind to Gege's decision-making and I think JJK will end up being what fans point to as an example of waste.
Professionally, I think he's on an island now. The industry didn't keep taking chances on Toriyama after Dragon Ball, and he had actually delivered in full. There were a lot of stakeholders across many industries eager to capitalise on the exploding popularity of JJK that I'm sure were left sour by the manga ending just as the IP hit critical mass.
