the contract slot just get reassign as soon as Saturn was dead garling most likley get it .
The had a opening and shanks was suppose to become one and harald get it instead .

In Saturn's case, Imu himself terminated the contract and there didn't seem to be any side-effects to him from doing so.
In Harald's case however he was killed and Imu seems to have taken damage from that so don't think it's quite the same tbh but we'll know soon enough I guess ^^

I think the difference here might be "forceful termination" vs "willful termination" tbh.

It's still a debate the Loki vs Harald fight imho. There is only one panel where Harald is showed to fight back. Then it's only Loki who hit him. I don't think Harald got overwhelmed like that, at some point he probably stopped and let Loki do his job.

Probably the anime will show it better or not, maybe they will extend the fight changing everything

So effectively:

He shares his life force with them, as long as they’re alive all is well.

He can take powers from them and open up a seat without taking damage if he just takes them back via absorption (like he did with Saturn).

If they die by other means the power vanishes and he suffers damage until it returns.
