On the cover page, Zoro's getting cat ears...and he doesn't seem to hate it! Zoro is a furry confirmed! Live your truth, Zoro!
So, it seems like having a sword stuck through his head hasn't effected Jarul in any meaningful way. No memory problems in sight. Jeez...Giants are tough! No wonder the Government's afraid of them, if they can ALL do stuff like that.
We also get to see just a peek at Shanks' time on Mariejois. If you look in the background, behind Garling, does the symbol on the "family crest" look like another one of those Elk Skulls to anyone else? The same type that Road and that unnamed God's Knight were wearing? I can't quite tell if that's what it's supposed to be, or just something else.
Garling actually seems pretty happy to have Shanks back with him. Hard to say if it's a act, for some reason. But, for right now...it actually seems like Garling cared about his son. That would kind of humanize Garling, in a way. But, we'll see if there's a darker reason for Garling's high spirits later, perhaps.
"The commoners down there don't even count as people". I know Celestial Dragons have said similar things in the past, but I feel like there's more history to this line than simple classism. I can't help but feel like there's probably a history for why they believe that. Either because of having blood of the D Clan in them, or something else.
"He was such a pure soul!" I think you mean "sucker", Shanks. But, sure, that's a nicer way to put it.
Oh, poor Loki. The guy's really had a rough life. Interesting how prominent his "sun" tattoo is during this scene, though.
"Is something unforeseen lurking on Elbaph?" Interesting line. And it kind of brings to mind a similar effect that the Nika Fruit had, being able to hide from the World Government for so long. Loki's Devil Fruit COULD still be one of the God Fruits. So, is it possible that Imu can't "sense" the 3 other Gods? I don't know, maybe it's nothing and I'm reading too much into it, but we'll see.
Imu's out of breath after Harald's death. Interesting. So, there does seem to be some limit to Imu's power, or a drawback of possessing people. Also, Imu cares enough about their God's Knights not to send one to their inevitable death. So, either Imu is just very practical and doesn't want to waste resources, or Imu actually cares about their Knights.
"Never forget! Elbaph is of the "D"!" OOOH, now there's a line. It seems like the real source of Imu's ancient grudge is with the Ancient Giants. It sounds like, back in the day, the Ancient Giants were basically like the Klingons or Orcs, being more warlike. Interesting setup for the Void Century flashback. And this does seem to hint that there's some connection between the D Clan and the Ancient Giants, which I don't think we knew for sure before.
So, yeah, looks like Loki purposely hid the truth from his people just so they wouldn't disrespect the memory of his dad. I saw it coming, and I'm not sure it was the best choice, but I can understand it. Someone probably should have warned everyone about the World Government, though.
And...wait...we're going back to the present NOW?! But...what about the proposal to Lola? And the Loki/Shanks fight? AARGH! Ah, well...I guess I was wrong about us getting another few chapters of flashback. I...guess Oda's maybe saving some of this for a Shanks flashback? Hopefully, Oda's not just leaving these things for SBS question bait. From Shanks' expression, it almost looks like Shanks is interested in joining Loki on his revenge mission against the World Government. We know Shanks ends up stealing the Gum-Gum Fruit from the Government. So...could Shanks and Loki have teamed up for a while to try and attack the World Government together, before some sort of falling out? That would be kind of interesting, even though I'm not sure it's actually what Oda's setting up.
And...um...it's been so long since we've seen him I forget...I think his name is "Roofy"? Roofy managed to stay awake for that whole, long, rambling story. That's pretty unusual for him. I wonder if there's a reason why he didn't fall asleep this time?
The last of Loki's Seastone chains are finally removed! That took...SO MUCH LONGER than I expected. We'll finally be seeing Loki unleash his powers! And maybe we'll finally see what his Devil Fruit is in a chapter or two!
Everyone even apologizes to Loki. That's kind of a nice moment. It's literally the least they could do, but it's still nice of them.
So, now...it's Loki versus the Draugr! Kind of interesting that the guy who gets wrongfully blamed for so many murders has to fight something that could represent "death". Nice symbolism, if intentional.
And Loki uses...a ice attack?! Huh, so he can do more than hit things with lightning. So, he has his lightning attack and he has this ice attack. I guess Ragnir could have storm or weather controlling powers? Or could the powers literally be based on different "realms" of Norse mythology, thus the name of the attack?
And...there's a break next week. UGH! We JUST got back, too. Oh well, it seems pretty likely that we might get Loki's Devil Fruit reveal either next chapter or the chapter after that. So, next chapter should be a good one.
I AM glad we're back in the present day. But, I won't lie, I do wish we got to see a just a few more things about Loki's past to really put a bow on this flashback. As it stands, we still have a few loose plot threads. But...I guess we'll either get more in a hypothetical Shanks flashback, or in the SBS, one way or another. Now...I just need to jog my memory about who all these characters we haven't seen in over six months are. Let's see here, there's Roofy, and Swapper, and Shang-Chi, and Bluejay, and Surname, and...
