Character Discussion Did Roger simping for Shakky make him lose all his aura?

Pre-ts he was aura.
That's thanks to Anime, but aside from those, Roger has always been just a Flashback Character waiting to be shown, and when We compare him to such Characters whose Flashbacks were shown before him, I knew what to expect,

Clover
Rosinante
Tiger
Hiriluk
Kalgara
Noland
Oden
Tom
Yorki

I'm not saying these Characters have Bad Aura, I actually think most of them were Great,
But Role Wise? It's obvious with each New Introduction that Roger is gonna be a "Vulnerable" Character, someone who despite being Legendary at what He does, the focus gonna be on proving what He stands for & showing his shortcomings & needs,

People should expect the same for Nika, Joy Boy, Davy Jones, Ryuma ... etc (Even Xebec & Harald had to Taste that). Don't get your hopes up, They will ofc have that Badass Side, but the focus gonna be on their other Less-Aura Side,

The Ones who instead have better Aura imo are Living Legends,
Look at Wyper, even in Failure or Defeat, Oda refuses to ruin his Aura/Character,
We have so many Characters like that, both Top Tiers & Lesser,

Idk whats so fun in making characters simp
It makes them human, rather than a monolithic epicness piece of nothing (Aura master shit emperor Sung Jin-woo style of character), every single character in One piece is pathetic in an etymological point of view, because not having ups and downs would make them feel devoid of feelings, not even Imu is free from that, because even Imu isn't free from having loved someone. During history there has been a huge amount of people who didn't actually were fully like they went in history like, others put those attributes on them, their closer ones wouldn't mystify them as much if you ask.

Roger still has his ruthlessness to differ from Luffy.
Luffy will beat anyone insulting his friends, but Roger will actually kill. Unless that aspect of him is changed Post-timeskip.
Kaido considers him a soft pirate after all, but there's still the whole killing Squard's entire crew.

Roger falling in love with Rouge > Roger salivating over Shakky
In One Piece, everything is exaggerated. Outside of a few exceptions, love and desire or even admiration is pictured with hearth eyes or overally exagerated facial expressions.

A character does not magically lost his charisma because of this simple depiction or because of that simple of a flaw.. it would be like saying that Luffy doesn't have charisma because he is an idiot or because he can't control himself with meats or because Zoro gets lost everytime.

A simple humorous trait or a small flaw, does not magically negate the impact of the charisma of a character. On the contrary, it makes them more human. Which enhance their charisma when they act.

It would be harmfull to admire robots with big muscles and nice poses, we should aim for strong, flawed and powerfull humans instead (with reasonnables limits of course)

Now, I can understand that you wouldn't like the depiction of "simpness", but this is a One Piece constant, it has to be read within the context of the story and artistic direction.

Roger turned out to be a massive fraud.

Failed to separate himself in terms of feats from , Roger , WB , Garp, Harald.

Ducked BM.

Got lucky against Shiki.

Never beat any top tier in one v one.

Had to beg oden from WB and got lucky with him and hence became PK.

What a massive fraud and a clown.

Rocks mogged him hard let it be charisma, crew , action , presence , aspirations.

It's not the simping that's the issue for me. It's the presentation of it.

I agree that Roger falling for Shakky is a good way to differentiate him from Luffy. The problem is that there's no way to look past this shit:

Flat on his ass with hearts in eyes, tf? This is just unsubtle and doesn't really fit the image or character of Roger that was seen so far imo esp. pre-Oden.

Which is my biggest issue with WB as well; him going heart eyes for Shakky is dumb, him acting like a massive tsundere about her fits way better to me.

(Hell it's the issue I have with even Sanji, I'd like his gag way more if it was toned down more and not ridiculous nosebleed bs)

A good way that Oda gives Roger some character is here:

Or here:

I like this sort of thing. Gives Roger a very good distinct vibe of his own, and doesn't make him a clown for it.

If Roger showed a similar attitude towards Shakky I could dig it even if done humorously. Like overdramatic flirting, or trying to impress her with tales of his adventures while trying to capture her for e.g ig.

I'll also finish up by saying that some characters should have aura. Legendary figures like Roger, Yonko, Admirals, other great marines and pirates etc should have a limit on how much clowning they get, especially if they've been depicted as serious before.

Past a certain point it goes from fun character building and just makes them look unimpressive.
