We all need to wake tf up and not act as if large hierarchical countries/ countries with a wealthy elite and even global elites are good for humankind. It's unreasonable to act as if there is nothing wrong with grown adults being babied by other grown adults all their lives.
Just one example :
Where I used to live in the past there was a park I frequented, hilly area, the park itself on the side of a hill meaning it had a few paths, horizontally oriented at different elevations which are connected via shorter paths.
Only that some of those paths made no sense. The highest one, the widest and flattest would regularly be half under water whenever it rained and then make the path impassable.
You have to walk around the tiny lake either on one side in the grass or on a paved area with a pingpong table.
The rains there were so intense they'd partially erode the path in the flooded area but not only there. The entire path, through the park bore visible marks of water runoff you'd literally have to step through a creek like situation whenever it rained.
Why am I telling you all this?
Well as a matter of fact, nothing was done about this issue for several years. Now, why is that? Under normal conditions, people would have noticed, talked about and eventually come to rue conclusion that something must be done
and then they would have done something.
The most sensible thing to do would have been a slight rerouting of the path towards the side with the grass or ehe already paved area to the other side, then dig an artificial canal following the water's usual path to avoid overflow. Then the path would have had a bend but who cares? Better than getting water up to the ankles every time.
Unfortunately, we live in a country where so called public spaces are not truly owned by the public.
In fact people who would have come with shovels and bags would've had the police called on them, fined and possible banned from entering the openly accessible park.
In a society where the only way to fix everyday problems that affect everyone is writing a petition to a mayor nobody knows personally , collecting signatures of people that despite living close to you are nearly complete strangers
and then hoping it gets approved after several months, then another year for the town officials to find a specialized company, another 6 months to formulate a contract and another 4 for all parties involved to sign it, then to wait another year until the company has spare time slots,
no problems are solved reasonably.
Eventually, after years of having a on-off walkable creek, the town paved everything over with concrete. A costly, environmentally questionable fix that's only temprary as the rains will eventually wear down that material like they did with the previous one.
Just one simple example of the negative effects of building society as a containment area for eternal infants.
Now think about what happens when greater issues arrive.
A people that, over generations, gets used to having no control over solving their own problems will eventually lose interest in even
thinking about problem solving and grows apathetic towards the bad things they see every day, their interest in so called democratic processes will over time disappear and before they know it they find themselves in another dictatorship, absolutist monarchy or feudal system, wondering how they even got there, complaining about everything but eventually falling into resignation.
Such is the state of every 'advanced' country in our current times and we have to ask ourselves whether humankind can keep going like this.
