I hate the fact that ot took me this to realise what that fraud of a writer was doing. It should have been obvious with Sanji and Kizaru on Egghead. He sets up the confrontation and then proceeds to sh*t on everyone when he has Sanji runaway. What was the point of that whole speech Sanji gave about writing an apology letter. He should have apologised to us all for raising our hopes up. I was there when the chapter hit and all the fans saying that they didnt expect Sanji to do anything are lying, we were all getting hyped by the confrontation not because Sanji would win by himself, but because it was cool to see Sanji go all out with Luffy. But no! Don't give me that bullsh*t about Oda wanting to save it. This fraud keeps postponing ecerything that he's bloated the story 25 years. You cant say to wait when the fraud has no idea what hes doing.

Oda cares very little about any strawhat but Luffy post ts. In his mind all there dreams are pretty much irrelevant beyond how they can help Luffy achieve his dream of becoming PK and overthrowing the WG. He likely lost his interest in the crew around the MF saga, where he had Luffy interact with some of the most important characters of the story, while the SHP did filler shit with bums.

In Oda´s mind, having the Gorosei upon their introduction fight and struggle with Strawhats would just be an insult beyond belief to them, same with Kizaru. Maybe at EOS, but before that, in Oda´s mind, it makes more sense for the strawhats to be saved by an ancient robot, and Joyboys 800 year old Haki. They´re just not characters allowed to have achievements that rival Luffy in his mind. Oda barely even gave the supernova any achievements that could compare with Luffy, and they´re captains of their own crews.

This. Oda has sidelined most SHs. In WCI which is "sanji's arc" , oda didn't even gave him any significant fight. Law was like the deuteragonist in PH and dressrossa. Oda gave Yamato , law and Kidd better feats than most SHs. In this arc woki is much bigger deal for example.

My two cents: Sanji lacks haki proficiency and thus has no business with either Summers or Killingham. They should be able to Doflamingo diff him.

Sanjis CoO is average/decent (far from top tier), CoA is severely lacking (not one good feat) and CoC non existing (yet).

But if I had to guess Oda will just hand him everything out of the blue, same as vs Queen when he suddenly jumped tiers without previous feats or build up.

At least this time Gaban is there to guide him so that could be the in story reason.

If Oda wanted Sanji to fight Sommers, he would've played a role in saving the kids.

But instead the kids have been saved by Loki. Sommers entire Elbaf plot is done. No reason for Loki/Luffy to not attack him next chapter.

We had Queen's Virus subplot in wano where Sanji did nothing, but he ended up fighting Queen anyway. Final matchups need not look like initial skirmishes.

Sanji not arriving this chapter makes me think he's not coming to this side of the island where Sommers is.
Right now his position on the map would put him closest to Killingham who was at the library.

Thinking about it, Sanji's fears have been a focus in the manga, whether it is his fear of bugs (highlighted again beginning of this arc), the Okama (gag purposes), or most importantly his Germa self.

Killingham actually does fit as an opponent for Sanji. It's just a shame he's gotten so little focus compared to Sommers & Gunko.

I think the main issue with Sommers is that his main challenge was the whole "hugging someone you love covered with thorns" scenario which just got resolved this chapter with the parents. Sommer's dialogue and whole character was about that one thing.
I don't see Oda repeating that for Sanji, nor repeating the hostages plot.

So what would be the specific challenge that Sanji must overcome if he fights Sommers? If it's just having to use acoc, then even Killingham could fit as an opponent.

Your mistaking is basing yourself in arcs where everyone get fleshed out 1v1s. Sanji has beaten and has fought opponents post Jabra, it's just that the outcomes are not always Sanji beating them as its main point, sometimes Sanji just saves someone and has a brief cool looking clash, or gets played dirty, fights multiple and walks away, or beats irrelevant fodder like Jack's right hand in Zou lol

While for example, in Zoro's case, he is always beating someone, even if most of it gets offscreened or looks like shit, or worse, like when you already knew the enemy posed no challenge against Zoro but he just has to win and look cool doing it.
